  1. Dissapointed Review by Sarge

I have several CT grips and I'm happy with all of them except this one. Because of the the safety location on the back of the gun's grip, the activation button is forced low. For me, it falls within the fleshy part of my palm making it nearly impossible to activate. This relegates the gun to back up, not my primary in-home defense gun. It's nearly impossible to quickly acquire a target making it only useful for daytime defense.

Frankly the amount of pressure it takes to activate the switch is no different than the front activation grips but; performs poorly in it's low rear location. If there was a way to make switch a lever much like the safety, it just might work better. (Posted on 5/5/2019)

  2. Switch actuation complete Review by Csi-Michael

Use a small piece of velcro and a drop of "HOT GLUE" and the switch works great. Works like it was intended without the "Death Grip" prior to this fix. Try it, it works. Use a small hole punch on the velcro pad. (Posted on 1/15/2019)

  3. LG-487 is worthless! Review by JJ

It is nearly impossible to activate this laser with a normal grip and normal pressure!! It could get you killed in a gunfight! Don’t even consider it!! (Posted on 7/29/2018)

  4. Reviews Only - Not Wish Lists Review by Mike

Have this sight and not totally thrilled with the activation system. Have others with front activation button that are a breeze.

Please note: This is not a forum or a place to post wish lists. Write CT customer service for your dream sights. People rating 5 stars just to "wish" CT made this sight or that site only skews the rating. (Posted on 7/1/2016)

  5. Not for Large Hands Review by USMCBRAT

Activation problem not solved. I own several EXCELLENT Crimson Trace Lasergrips for other pistols with side and front strap activation. But with the switch on the back strap, this one was almost impossible to activate with normal grip as there wasn't enough hard mass on the web of my hand to apply sufficient pressure to activate the laser. If the activation button was larger/higher maybe it would work. I wonder what the hands of the Crimson Trace QA department are like to approve this grip? Decided a massive adjustment of my grip wasn't an option, so am returning it to the retailer. (Posted on 3/15/2016)

  6. White knuckle shooting Review by Lem

I agree with the other reviewers who complained on the grip force needed to activate the laser. For good shooting at the practice range or in self defense, 70% of the grip should be on your off hand and 30% on your trigger hand. Impossible with this unit to activate the laser. Disappointed with Crimson Trace. I have many of their units installed on my other pistols and this is the first that is useless. (Posted on 2/19/2016)

  7. Hard to activate without compromising aim Review by Sweeny

I bought this laser about two years ago. Was disappointed to discover that proper grip was not strong enough to activate the laser. To make it work, I had to radically alter my grip and squeeze my trigger hand much tighter that normal. This made aiming more difficult. I thought the activation button might become more sensitive with use, but it hasn't. I sometimes use a nylon zip tie around the grip and over the button so I can aim and shoot more naturally with the laser activated. But overall, I am extremely disappointed. This problem would be easy to fix. Even a manual on switch would be better than a button that won't activate when properly gripping and aiming the gun.

  8. Read this before you buy an LG-487 Review by Joe D

I own quite a few Crimson Trace products. They have all worked flawlessly. Except for this model. I bought 2 of them along with the lightguard for 2 XDM 5.25's. They fit well but are impossible to activate without squeezing the gun so hard that I can no longer aim properly. I don't have small or weak hands. The activation button is to high. It should have been interchanged with the on/off switch or mounted on the side. I'm in the process of making my own lever to make it work. So unless you have giant Sasquatch hands or grip everything like your hanging from a cliff I wouldn't recommend buying this product. (Posted on 10/24/2015)

  9. XDM 3.8 Review by Cdn

This laser grip works as advertised. The on/off button activates easily and I don't have to throttle the grip to make the light go on. Just a firm handshake will do. Two handed grip works even easier. I do wish it came as a front activation as another option. (Posted on 9/21/2015)

  10. I hate it. Review by Del

Ordered on-line, installed only to find you have to squees the gun to death to get it to work. I called Crimson to complain. They graciously agreed to ship one guaranteed to work. Nope same problem. So unless you have vise like grip, stay clear. So bummed. (Posted on 2/18/2015)

  11. Wouldn't work on my Full size .45XD(M) Review by Dave

I see someone else got it to work on a .45, but I could not. It was a very tight fit and the activation switch would not work. The .45 grip is a little wider than the other XD(M)s. I brought it back to where I bought it and they couldn't get it to work either. They did give a full refund though. I really wish it would have worked. (Posted on 11/16/2014)

  12. Just installed my LG 487 on my .45 XDm full size service model. Review by Robert

WOW! No more rail mounts for me. What ease, and no interference in my small of back leather holster.Thank you Don Hume. I will definitely go green when it is available. Soon CT? (Posted on 10/24/2014)

  13. Have the LG-487 for my Springfield XDM 40/4.5 Review by Joe

And I really like it. The only thing is, finding a concealment holster which uses an ALS, and will accommodate the laser grip. None of the big holster companies seem to make one... so I just keep buying and trying... if anyone knows of one, drop me a email - (Posted on 1/4/2014)

  14. Saving my money! Review by Vulcanizer

The only gun I have is a Springfield XDM 40 Compact 3.8 so I'm saving my money for the laser grip. Now all you have to do is make it and I will buy it. Fair deal? (Posted on 11/16/2013)

  15. springfield xdm 40 compact Review by D

I'm disappointed that there's no laser grip for my compact 3.8 springfield 40. I've already installed my crimson light and love it not need to finish it off with the laser grip but y'all don't make it sucks

  16. XDm Grip Green Laser Review by Falcon

I don't get it ? You make red laser grips for the XDm Full Size, Why not Green, which is easier for the human eye to see, especially older eyes like mine ! I want grip type not a laser guard that requires a special holster to be obtained also. I want to be able to use any holster of my choice and not be restricted (Posted on 10/22/2013)

  17. Really need One for XDm Compact Review by Rocky

I have 4 of the Crimson Trace lasers already - One on a XD Compact. REALLY need one for my XDm 40 Compact to allow holster carry in a Blackhawk SERPA. I Hope they are on their way. (Posted on 9/20/2013)

  20. Great to have! Review by A76marine

It's great to finally have the LG-487 Lasergrips on my XDm 9. I've been jonesing for a laser with this pistol since I purchased it. I knew Crimson Trace was the only one I'd be happy with since CT served me well for a year in Baghdad, Iraq.

This laser fits seamlessly as a replacement for the XDm backstrap and installation was a breeze. The activation by squeezing your palm is a little difficult (I miss the side button activation from my military M9) but its spot on at roughly 25-30 yds. The laser comes with all the tools to install, to clean and to align the laser. Free batteries for life is a huge bonus too. Don't consider anything less! (Posted on 7/21/2013)

  21. Fantastic product. It's like cheating. These old eyes love it. Review by Gardner T

I have the LG-446 laser grip on my springfield XD 9. I as well as my friends are impressed with this laser grip sight. I am a shooter with older eyes that blur the front sight. With this laser I am able to point, shoot, and hit the target with amazing accuracy. It's easy to adjust and the batteries for life is a sign that this company cares about you and your shooting. The ones I have are great, but I need one for the XDM40 compat I bought 20 months ago and have yet to see that Crimson Trace Makes one. The one I have for a XD40 sub compact works great. (Posted on 10/11/2012)

I am a LOYAL CT customer! I have CT Lasergrips on ALL my carry handguns, 1911's, XD .40 Subcompact, Bersa Thunder, Smith and TaurusSnub's and my LC9. Just bought an .45 XDm 3.8 Compact and would LOVE a CT Lasergrip that would still leave the rail free for a Tac-light. **PLEASE make one to fit the XDm Compact Model! (Posted on 3/22/2012)

  35. Hopes are high Review by Jakk

I've been waiting for this product since I bought my XDm in 2010 and I am so full of hope now. The only thing that makes me question this is that the release date is set for April 1st of 2012. With the huge amount of demand for this particular Grip Sight, there is a high chance that this is an early joke. I am hoping that it isn't a cruel joke, but it's a possibility that I can't ignore...
