Walk Through Policy

On Friday, August 15th at 1600 hours the Range Master has approved registered competitors to enter and move through the course(s) of fire.  Competitors may enter and move through stages during the competition ONLY with the approval of the Range Officer assigned to that stage, or the Range Master.  At no time are props to be activated, reset, or should anyone be downrange.

Scoring

For each stage shot you will receive a time plus any penalties.  Scoring will be based on TIME ONLY.  Lowest total time per stage, or each class, will receive 100 match points.  Second place in a class and lower will be awarded points based upon a percentage of their total times compared to the first place time.  The total points earned by each shooter will determine overall match order, highest total points to lowest total points.

Prize Table

The prize table will be set up and open for viewing during the awards ceremony on August 17th from 1200 - 1400 hours.  All competitors will be allowed to walk the prize table prior to awards being presented.  If you are unable to walk the prize table and/or accept your award, you may designate another competitor to "walk" for you.  In order to do this, the designated person must have your Shooter ID sticker.

Match/Range Rules

1 General Conduct & Dispute Resolution
1.1 Eye protection is mandatory for participants, spectators & officials at the event site.
1.2 Ear protection is mandatory for participants, spectators & officials while on or near a stage.
1.2.1
Participants, spectators & officials must all be equipped with at least two (2) match approved lighting devices
(e.g. lightsticks, LED lights) on their person at all times.
1.3
No participants or spectators shall consume or be under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs at the event site. Any participant found to be impaired as a result of legitimate prescription drugs may be directed to stop shooting and requested to leave the range.
1.4
Participants and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and sportsman-like manner at all times. Any person who violates this rule may be ejected from the event site at the Match Director’s discretion.
1.5
Clothing with any offensive or obscene logos, sayings, pictures or drawings will not be worn or displayed while at the event site.
1.6
Participants may be subject to event disqualification for safety or conduct violations. Disqualification will result in complete disqualification from the event, and the participant will not be allowed to continue nor be eligible for prizes.
1.7 A participant shall be disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct. Examples of unsportsmanlike conduct include:
1.7.1 Cheating, such as:
1.7.1.1 Intentionally altering a target prior to the target being scored to gain advantage or avoid a penalty.
1.7.1.2 Altering or falsifying score sheets.
1.7.1.3 Altering the configuration of firearms or equipment without permission of the Match Director.
1.7.2 Threatening or assaulting other participants or Event Officials.
1.7.3 Disruptive behavior likely to disturb or distract other participants while they are shooting.
1.7.4 Willful disregard of Event Official instructions.
1.7.4.1 Willful disregard of Event Officials regarding smoking or open flames on the range property.
1.8 The final decision on all disqualifications and reshoots will be made by the Range Master or the Match Director.
1.9
Any rule not explicitly covered by this document will be resolved with a ruling by the Match Director or his designee. Rulings by the Match Director or his designee will be final, and will serve as a precedent for the duration of the event.
1.10
To have a matter arbitrated, a participant may obtain an Arbitration Request Form from the CRO of the stage in question. The completed Arbitration Request Form and the arbitration fee (US$100 cash) must be submitted to the Match Director within one hour of the time noted on the score sheet.
1.10.1
The Match Director will review the evidence, hear testimony, take counsel and issue a ruling before the end of the event.
1.10.2
If the arbitration is approved, the arbitration fee will be refunded. If the arbitration is disapproved, the arbitration fee is forfeit.
1.10.3 Safety violations are not subject to arbitration.
2 Safety
2.1 All International Multi-Gun Association (IMA) events will be run on cold ranges.
2.1.1
Participants firearms will remain unloaded at the event site except under the direction and immediate supervision of an Event Official.
2.2 Firearms may only be handled and/or displayed in a designated safety area.
2.2.1 Safety areas will be clearly marked with signs.
2.2.2 No firearm may be loaded in a safety area.
2.2.3 No ammunition (including dummy ammunition or snap caps) may be handled in a safety area.
2.3 Firearms may be transported to, from and between stages only in the following conditions:
2.3.1 Handguns must be cased or holstered, de-cocked and with the magazine removed.
2.3.2
Rifles and shotguns must be cased, secured muzzle up or muzzle down in a stable gun cart/caddy, or carried slung with the muzzle up. Actions must be open and detachable magazines removed. The use of high-visibility open bolt indicator devices is recommended as a courtesy to other event participants.
2.4
A participant who causes an accidental discharge will be stopped by an Event Official as soon as possible, and shall be disqualified. Examples of accidental discharge include:
2.4.1
A shot, which travels over a backstop, a berm or in any other direction deemed by Event Officials to be unsafe. Note that a participant who legitimately fires a shot at a target, which then travels in an unsafe direction, will not be disqualified.
2.4.2
A shot which strikes the ground within 10 feet of the participant, except when shooting at a target closer than 10 feet to the participant.
2.4.2.1 Exception — a shot which strikes the ground within 10 feet of the participant due to a “squib”.
  2.4.2.2
In the case of a shot striking a prop where the projectile is deflected or does not continue to strike the ground, if an Event Official determines that the projectile would have struck the ground within 10 feet of the participant had it not been deflected or stopped by the prop, the provisions of 2.4.2 shall apply.
2.4.3 A shot which occurs while loading, reloading or unloading any firearm.
  2.4.3.1
Exception — a detonation which occurs while unloading a firearm is not considered an accidental discharge. A “detonation” is defined as the ignition of the primer of a round, other than by action of a firing pin, where the projectile or shot does not pass through the barrel (e.g. when a slide is being manually retracted, when a round is dropped etc.).
2.4.4 A shot which occurs during remedial action in the case of a malfunction.
2.4.5 A shot which occurs while transferring a firearm between hands.
2.4.6 A shot which occurs during movement, except while actually engaging targets.
2.5
A participant who performs an act of unsafe gun handling will be stopped by an Event Official as soon as possible, and shall be disqualified. Examples of unsafe gun handling include:
2.5.1
Dropping a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, at any time after the “Make Ready” command and before the “Range Is Clear” command.
  2.5.1.1
Dropping an unloaded firearm before the “Make Ready” command or after the “Range Is Clear” command will not result in disqualification, provided the firearm is retrieved by an Event Official.
2.5.2 Use of any unsafe ammunition as defined in Section 3.
2.5.3
Abandoning a firearm during a stage in any location other than a safe abandonment location as stipulated in the stage briefing. Firearms may only be abandoned in one of the following conditions:
2.5.3.1 Loaded, safety catch fully engaged, muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.
  2.5.3.2
Completely unloaded (no ammunition in the firearm), detachable magazine removed, muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.
  2.5.3.3
Abandoning a firearm in violation of 2.5.3.1 or 2.5.3.2 will not result in a match disqualification if the firearm is abandoned in a safe abandonment location as stipulated in the stage briefing.  The competitor will incur a 15-second procedural penalty for violation of 2.5.3.1 or 2.5.3.2.
2.5.4 Unloading any firearm in an unsafe manner, or discharging a firearm while not legitimately engaging a target.
2.5.5 Allowing the muzzle of a firearm to break the 180 degree safety plane.
  2.5.5.1
In the case of a participant facing downrange, the muzzle of a loaded handgun may point slightly uprange while drawing or reholstering, so long as it does not point outside an imaginary circle of three (3) feet radius from the participant’s feet.
2.5.6 Engaging a steel target in an unsafe manner, such as by:
2.5.6.1 Engaging steel targets with handgun ammunition at a range of less than 23 feet.
2.5.6.2 Engaging steel targets with shotgun birdshot ammunition at a range of less than 16 feet.
2.5.6.3 Engaging steel targets with shotgun slug ammunition at a range of less than 131 feet.
2.5.6.4 Engaging steel targets with rifle ammunition at a range of less than 164 feet.
2.5.7
Allowing the muzzle of a firearm to point at any part of the participant’s body during a course of fire (i.e. sweeping).
  2.5.7.1
Exception — sweeping of the lower extremities (below the belt) while drawing or re-holstering a handgun, provided that the participant’s fingers are clearly outside of the trigger guard.
2.5.8 Using a tube-type shotgun speed-loading device without a primer relief cut.
2.5.9 Pointing a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, in any direction deemed by Event Officials to be unsafe.
3 Ammunition
3.1
Handgun ammunition shall be 9mm Parabellum (9x19mmNATO) or larger, unless otherwise stipulated under equipment division rules.
3.2
Rifle ammunition shall be .223 Remington (5.56x45mmNATO) or larger, unless otherwise stipulated under equipment division rules.
3.3 Shotgun ammunition shall be 20 gauge or larger, unless otherwise stipulated under equipment division rules.
3.3.1
Birdshot must be no larger than #6 birdshot, and be made from lead or bismuth only. Iron/steel/tungsten birdshot is unsafe and prohibited. No buckshot allowed.
3.4
Ammunition containing tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, steel jacketed or steel/tungsten/penetrator core projectiles is unsafe and prohibited.
4 Firearms
4.1
All firearms used by participants must be serviceable and safe. Event Officials may inspect a participant’s firearms at any time to check they are functioning safely. If any firearm is declared unserviceable or unsafe by an Event Official, it must be withdrawn from the event until it is repaired to the satisfaction of the Range Master.
4.2
Participant firearms capable of fully automatic- or burst-fire (“machine guns”) may be used only in semi-auto mode (i.e. not more than one (1) round fired with each pull of the trigger). Violation of this rule will incur a 30 second time penalty per occurrence.
4.3
Unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing, required firearms will begin the stage in the following ready conditions:
4.3.1
Handgun: Loaded to division start capacity and holstered. In the case of single-action autos or double-action autos with manual override safeties, the safety catch must be in the “safe” position. In the case of double-action autos & revolvers, the hammer must be down/forward.
4.3.2
Rifle: Loaded to division start capacity and held in the low ready position. Safety catch must be in the “safe” position.
4.3.3
Shotgun: Loaded to division start capacity and held in the low ready position. Safety catch must be in the “safe” position.
4.3.4
Participants may not touch or hold any firearm loading device or ammunition after the “Standby” command and before the “Start Signal” (except for unavoidable touching with the lower arms).
5 Equipment Divisions
5.1 Equipment divisions are: Open.
5.1.1
Failure to meet all of the equipment and ammunition requirements for the declared division shall result in the participant’s scores being excluded from the final event results.
5.2 Open division
5.2.1 Handgun:
  5.2.1.1
Handgun holsters must safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement, and must completely cover the trigger. The belt upon which the handgun holster is attached must be worn at waist level. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are prohibited.
5.2.2 Rifle:
  5.2.2.1
Supporting devices (e.g. bipods) are permitted, and may begin any stage folded or deployed at the p
articipant’s discretion.
5.2.3 Shotgun:
5.2.3.1 Speed loading devices and/or detachable box magazines are permitted.
5.2.3.2 Tubular speed loading devices must feature a primer relief cut.
5.3
Sighting or lighting systems (e.g. lasers, scopes, and lights) may be added or removed between stages at the
discretion of the competitor.

6 Scoring & Penalties
6.1 Stage score will be based on straight time plus penalties.
6.1.1
Unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing, IPSC cardboard “shoot” targets must be neutralized by receiving either one (1) A-zone hit, one (1) B-zone hit or two (2) hits anywhere in the scoring area. Examples of neutralized targets include:
6.1.1.1 One (1) hit in the upper A–zone or B-zone.
6.1.1.2 One (1) hit in the lower A-zone.
6.1.1.3 Two (2) hits anywhere in the scoring area, in any combination of the C-zone and/or D-zone.
6.1.2 IPSC cardboard “shoot” targets that are not neutralized will incur time penalties as follows:
6.1.2.1 One (1) hit in the C-zone or D-zone only = 5 second penalty (Failure To Neutralize).
6.1.2.2 No hits on target, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
6.1.2.3 No hits on target, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
6.1.3
Only holes made by bullets/slugs/pellets will count for score/penalty. Evidence that the bullet made the hole must be present on the target (i.e. crown or grease ring/mark). Holes made by shrapnel, fragments, wads or flying debris will not count for score/penalty.
6.1.4
Knock-down targets (e.g. Pepper Poppers) must fall to score. Swinging/flashing targets must react in the manner prescribed in the stage briefing. An Event Official may call hits.
  6.1.4.1
Enhanced Penalty Targets: Rifle steel targets more than 100 yards distant from the shooting position will be penalized as follows:
6.1.4.2 Target did not fall/react, but targets was engaged = 20 second penalty (Rifle Steel Not Hit)
6.1.4.3 Target did not fall/react, and target was not engaged = 30 second penalty (Rifle Steel Not Engaged)
6.1.5
Knock-down/swinging/flashing targets that do not fall/react will incur time penalties as follows:
6.1.5.1 Target did not fall/react, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
  6.1.5.2
Target did not fall/react, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
6.1.6
Knock-down targets will be calibrated before the event begins.
  6.1.6.1
Targets will be calibrated with a 9mm handgun using factory ammunition.
  6.1.6.2
The Range Master will designate specific supplies of 9mm ammunition, and one or more handguns to be used as official calibration tools only by the Range Master or designated testing personnel. Designated calibration firearms and ammunition are not subject to challenge.
6.1.7
Frangible targets (e.g. clay pigeons) must break by gunfire to score. A target with a significant piece visibly detached is considered “broken”.  A BB hole is considered a break.
6.1.8
Frangible targets that do not break will incur time penalties as follows:
  6.1.8.1
Target did not break, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
  6.1.8.2
Target did not break, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
  6.1.8.3
Bonus Targets may be designated in the stage briefing.
  6.1.8.4
Bonus Targets will not incur FTN or FTE penalties.
  6.1.8.5
Bonus Targets hits will result in time deducted from the final stage time and the procedure and amount of each bonus hit will be specified in the stage briefing.
6.1.9
Scoring hits on designated “No Shoot” targets will incur a 5 second penalty per hit, up to a maximum of 2 hits per no-shoot. Steel “No Shoot” targets must fall to score. Frangible “No Shoot” targets must break to score.
6.1.10

Failure to follow procedures prescribed in the stage briefing will result in a 5 second penalty.
  6.1.10.1

If a competitive advantage is deemed to have been gained, procedural penalties may be applied on a “per shot” basis.
  6.1.10.2

Enhanced procedural penalties may be applied at the Match Director’s discretion if a participant willfully and egregiously violates stage procedures.
  6.1.10.3

The rendering of any assistance or advice to a participant who is actively engaged in a stage (“coaching”) by any person other than an Event Official is prohibited. Event Officials may penalize the “coach” and/or the participant with a procedural penalty for each occurrence. Persistent coaching may be subject to the provisions of rules 1.4 and/or 1.7.
6.1.11

Additional penalties may be applied as stipulated in the stage briefing.
6.1.12
Stage Not Fired (SNF) penalty is 500 seconds per stage not fired.
6.1.13

The Match Director may specify a time limit for completing any stage by stating it clearly in the stage briefing. If a participant exceeds the time limit, they will be stopped by an Event Official and the stage will be scored as shot with all applicable miss and TNE penalties.
6.2
Stage Points
6.2.1
Stage points will be awarded to participants according to their stage time relative to the fastest time on that stage, using the equation STAGE_POINTS = ( FASTEST_TIME / PARTICIPANT_TIME ) x 100.
6.2.2
Total points accumulated for all stages will determine the event placement by division.
6.2.3
Highest score wins.

Mastering your gun with iron sights is critical. Our products provide optimum sighting in moments of crisis when your eyes are on the threat, not your iron sights.

"The beam will give away my position."

The second rule of gun safety says, "Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy." You are already in a gunfight the moment you draw your firearm. Your target's ability to identify you is irrelevant when compared to your ability to immediately engage that target with your laser sight.

"Green lasers are better than red lasers."

Crimson Trace red and green laser sights feature the brightest laser beam allowed by law (Class 3R). Red lasers are most visible in low light conditions, when armed encounters are most likely to occur. The human eye naturally detects green with great ease, allowing it to appear brighter in conditions and environments with higher ambient or natural light.

"I can't turn the laser off when I don't want it."

Most Crimson Trace products include a master on/off switch. For models without a master on/off switch, ease of installation allows you to quickly remove your unit - while retaining zero - for training without the laser.

"The laser beam is not lined up with the barrel."

When sighted-in at 50 feet, the firearm's point-of-aim (POA) with within one inch of point-of-impact (POI) for any distance between point blank and 50 feet. Crimson Trace laser sights are user-adjustable for windage and elevation.

"I'm not a gunsmith. I don't want to alter my gun."

You won't have to. Crimson Trace products install in moments with zero modifications to your firearm. Lasergrips® replace your factory grips or - on polymer frames - attach to the frame. Laserguard® attaches securely around the trigger guard. Rail Master® and Rail Master® Pro™ products attach to your firearm's accessory rail. We include all of the mounting hardware, installation manual and the best customer service in the industry to make installation a snap.

"The laser won't work with my holster."

Lasergrips should fit your favorite holster. Most quality holster brands offer a custom fit for Crimson Trace Laserguard and Rail Master products.

THE WORLD CAN BE A DANGEROUS PLACE.
TRAIN ACCORDINGLY.

The Gunsite Academy 250 Defensive Pistol Course is known as “The Gunsite Experience”. First presented in 1976 by Colonel Jeff Cooper, 250 graduates will be well-grounded in the Modern Technique of the Pistol. For the first time ever, Gunsite will be offering Crimson Trace “laser-integrated” 250 classes that cover the use of laser sights.

These courses will cover the complete 250 doctrine while adding in the practical use of lasers. The tactical applications, benefits and limitations of visible laser sights are thoroughly covered in the course. Along with learning Gunsite doctrine in the use of pistol sights, students will also earn when, where and how to use their laser in a variety of conditions and environments. The course will include two evenings of low light shooting to allow the best conditions for laser use.

In response to inquiries from many attendees about the use and application of laser sights on their personal defensive handguns, Gunsite Training Director Dave Starin teamed up with Crimson Trace to offer this one-of-a-kind modern training experience.

"Next to holsters, the most prevalent defensive handgun accessory is the laser sight but few if any firearms instructors are developing curriculum to address these sights and even fewer know how to do that," states respected gun writer Richard Mann, who was integral in developing this opportunity. "If you attend, you’ll get all the respected 250 Pistol Class instruction but it will come with the addition of instruction on the application and limitations of Crimson Trace laser sights."

TESTIMONIAL

"The world now has a source for practical, life-saving training with regard to the use of laser sights on a defensive handgun and they have it from the premier firearms training academy in the world."

Richard Mann
Author, Blogger, Gunwriter

The laser course, as with all 250 courses, will include five solid days of range work, lectures and intensive indoor, outdoor and low light, live fire simulators.

Graduates must demonstrate marksmanship, gun handling, combat mindset, and the elements of the Combat Triad. Through Gunsite’s systematic and dynamic methodology, students will achieve confidence, competence, new skills, and best of all…peace of mind. Clients emerge stronger, more alert, and conditioned to respond instantly to any threat.

Course dates for 2014 are May 5-9 and November 3-7 and are limited to 15 students per course to ensure maximum training benefit. Both courses are led by instructors Dave Starin and Chris Weare.

Course cost is $1585. Spots are limited. Please contact Gunsite Academy for additional details.

The World is a Dangerous Place. Equip Accordingly.™

The World is a Dangerous Place. Equip Accordingly.™

It's time to add the quick targeting and reliability of Crimson Trace laser sights to your concealed carry weapon of choice. When you do, you'll be adding the confidence you need should the situation arise. Only Crimson Trace puts Instinctive Activation® in your hand. Crimson Trace is the name you want on your side at the precise moment when there's no turning back. Not only do Crimson Trace products fit a variety of holster styles, they won't inhibit quick draw ability. Such accessibility, paired with ongoing innovation, makes Crimson Trace the ultimate concealed carry solution.  It's not an accessory -- it's a necessity.

Low-Light Sighting

Most armed self-defense situations happen in low light environments. You're faced with making the most important shot of your life just when your iron sights are fading into the twilight. That's when Crimson Trace laser sights earn their keep. Our "instinctively activated" laser sights allow you to keep your eyes on the threat, not on your sights.

Improved Accuracy

Short-barrel snubbies and subcompact concealed carry semi-autos are tough to aim beyond a few yards. Many lack sufficient iron sights. Lasergrips® and Laserguard® extend the effective range by projecting the point-of-impact onto the target, allowing more accurate shot placement in moments of crisis.

Quick Targeting

Face it.  In a life or death situation, you're going to be looking at the threat, not at your front sight.  Why not place a highly visible mark on the threat, showing you exactly where your bullet will land? Laser sights allow you to "paint" your target, increasing your chances of de-escalating a potentially lethal situation.

Motion and Cover

Participants in a gunfight are probably not going to be standing still, like targets on a range.  Crimson Trace laser sights enhance speed and accuracy when moving and when aiming at moving targets.  Plus, you can shoot from behind cover without achieving a traditional sight picture - the laser can find its target from any position.

Holster and TacLight Compatibility

Top flight holster manufacturers like Crossbreed, Galco, DeSantis, Blade-Tech, Mitch Rosen and BLACKHAWK!, among many others, produce holsters to fit Crimson Trace laser sights. Beyond that, Crimson Trace products enjoy broad compatibility with the most popular holsters and tactical lights on the market.

Big Bad Selection

Crimson Trace Lasergrips® and Laserguard® fit the most common concealed carry guns from top firearms manufacturers including: Beretta, Diamondback, GLOCK, Kahr Arms, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory, Taurus, Walther, and many others.  View our products.

REAL-WORLD LASER TACTICS

Real-world laser tactics

Your goal is to be effective with a gun in your hand. Equipping your gun with a laser sight enhances your effectiveness like no other firearm accessory can. They'll show you why lasers have become a preferred training tool, and they'll highlight the critical differences between what happens on the practice range and during adrenaline-pumping gunfights.

There’s no greater responsibility than providing safety and security for your home and family.  For many people, owning a handgun is the surest way to remain in control of their personal safety.  However, owning a handgun isn’t enough.  How prepared are you to use your gun if needed?  Additionally: if a single product could dramatically improve your chances of surviving a life-threatening scenario – wouldn’t you want to have it?

The best way to survive an armed encounter is to avoid it altogether.  The second best way is to deter the threat without firing a shot.  However, the world is a dangerous place, and we must prepare responsibly for every eventuality and equip accordingly.  If the first rule of being prepared is to have a gun, then the second rule is to ensure that you have every opportunity to prevail.

The Range Can't Fully Prepare You

Range time is an important activity for any defensive shooter.  Stance, sight alignment, breath control and trigger control are critical components of accurate shooting.  Spend time at the range, and lots of it.  But be aware that the time you spend does not fully prepare your for real-world defensive shootings.

In a lethal force scenario, everything changes.  You’re not at the range anymore.  The controlled environment no longer exists.  You are defending your life or the life of another.  Your heart is pounding, your target may be cloaked in darkness, you are fixated on your target and your iron sights are an afterthought.  All of this happens in a matter of seconds and within only a few feet.

With a laser sight on your handgun, you have access to a targeting and threat de-escalation tool that can help you overcome challenges such as darkness, close range, time, movement, and the threat itself.  Survival is all about giving yourself the tools to make quick, yet informed, decisions when your body and brain experiences changes outside of your control.  And should you fire your weapon, your shots will reach their intended target.

Trauma Causes Physiological Changes

If you are attacked, or you draw your handgun to prevent violence, powerful changes surge through your mind and body.  A powerful “fight or flight” response kicks in which you cannot control.  Your heart rate skyrockets, muscles tense, and vision narrows.  These natural changes prepare you for physical battle or a swift move to cover, yet they limit your ability to shoot accurately.

The most dramatic change you’ll experience is the loss of fine motor skills.  Your physiological reactions prepare your body to use the powerful muscles of the arms, legs and torso to fight or escape.  None of these natural reactions are designed to help you operate a handgun effectively.  You’ll struggle to hold the gun steady, struggle to pull the trigger smoothly, and struggle to line up sights accurately in the same ways you practiced at the range.

Most people involved in shootings report never seeing their sights.  It’s no mystery why.  How do you focus on the threat AND your sights at the same time?  With reliable state-of-the-art technology like Crimson Trace laser sights, you simply move your sights onto the target by projecting a laser dot.  This allows you to assess the threat, overcome the loss of fine motor skills, and place accurate shots during critical situations.  Also, by placing a laser on your target, you communicate a crystal clear message: you can both walk away.

U.S. law enforcement officers are some of the best-trained shooters in the world, but hit ratios from shootings in the field are staggeringly low.  National Institute of Justice data shows that officers using traditional sighting and training methods hit their mark only about 25% of the time when lethal force engagements ensue.

Why so low?  Consider that 80% of shootings occur in low-light situations, most involve movement of officer or subject, and with the stress of a life or death situation, and it’s easy to see why so many rounds miss their targets.  The challenges faced by law enforcement officers and the challenges faced by responsible citizens defending themselves aren’t that different - with one glaring exception: the officers are trained professionals.

Crimson Trace laser sights are used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies and military units worldwide.  The numbers don’t lie.  Agencies using Crimson Trace lasers have achieved hit ratios of over 90% in officer-involved shootings.  That’s a phenomenal 300%+ improvement.  The bottom line is this: laser sights are an invaluable tool that improves your ability to see, evaluate, aim, and successfully hit.

Technology exists to help shooters of all skill levels improve their confidence, speed and accuracy.  However, with so many options now available, it can be very difficult to distinguish between serious equipment and toy-like gadgets.  Laser sights were once large and impractical, had terrible mounting options, offered clumsy activation options, or were cheap and flimsy.  Crimson Trace changed all that.  No personal protection handgun is complete without a laser sight.  Thousands of Crimson Trace customers know this to be true.

Nearly 20 years ago, Crimson Trace pioneered Instinctive Activation®, the single largest breakthrough in making laser sights the most effective handgun targeting tool for self-defense handguns in the world.  Instinctive Activation simply means that when the handgun is held in a natural firing grip, the laser springs to life instantly.  This feature allows the shooter to be on target, as soon as they draw their weapon.  No button switching, no fumbling for levers, and no valuable time lost.  It’s why we say, When You’re Holding It, You’re Aiming It™.

Instinctive Activation is offered by Crimson Trace product lines including: Lasergrips® and Laserguard®.  Lasergrips replace factory grips in moments, or are mounted seamlessly to the frames of modern polymer-framed pistols.  Laserguard models are designed for smaller concealed carry guns without factory grips by attaching to the trigger guard.  Crimson Trace offers nearly 150 laser sight models, many with Instinctive Activation.

Responsible armed citizens are one of the reasons for America’s decreasing violent crime rate.  It is estimated that as many as one million crimes are prevented each year because of armed citizens.  Most of these crimes are prevented without a shot being fired.  The mere presence of a firearm was enough to encourage the criminal to change their mind.  Unfortunately, not all attackers give up without a fight.

Maybe they’re unaware that their prey have guns.  Maybe they figure their mark won’t actually shoot.  Most likely of all, they presume their victim is incompetent and unlikely to hit anything.  Remember one thing about the aftermath of a shooting: Whether justifiable or not, your life will change forever.  Your guns will be seized, the police will write you up in their reports, you may be sued in civil court and possibly prosecuted in criminal court.  You will probably be arrested.

Should you find yourself in an armed self-defense situation, unquestionably the BEST outcome is for the criminal to flee in fear of their own life – without shots being fired.  How can you increase the odds that the attacker will give up before you shoot?  Use a laser sight.  Uncooperative criminals have been shown to comply better with a red (or green) laser dot painted confidently across their chest.  Will it stop an attack every time?  No.  Is it designed to be a non-lethal tool?  No.  Will it place the odds in your favor?  Yes.  It’s precisely the reason why we say that laser sights Help Bad Guys Make Informed Decisions™.

2013 M3GI Policy & Range Rules

Walk Through Policy

On Friday, August 16th at 1600 hours the Range Master has approved registered competitors to enter and move through the course(s) of fire.

Prize Table

The prize table will be set up and open for viewing during the awards ceremony on August 18th from 1200 - 1400 hours.

6.2.3

The Impact of Responsible Armed Citizens

It's estimated that as many as one million crimes are prevented each year because of armed citizens.  Most of these crimes are prevented without a shot being fired.  The mere presence of a firearm was enough to encourage the criminal to change their mind.  Unfortunately, not all attackers give up without a fight.  Maybe they're unaware that their prey has a gun, or maybe they figure their intended victim won't actually shoot.  Most likely of all, they presume their prey is incompetent and unlikely to hit anything.

Remember these facts about the aftermath of a shooting: Whether justifiable or not, your life will change forever.  Your guns will be seized.  The police will write you up in their reports.  You will be sued in a civil court and possibly in criminal court.  Again, your life will change forever, and the incident will add a huge emotional toll on you and your loved ones.  Unquestionably, the BEST outcome is for the criminal to flee in fear of his own life without shots being fired.

So how can you increase the odds that the attacker will give up before you shoot?  Use a laser sight.  Uncooperative criminals have been shown to comply better with a potential victim armed with a laser-equipped gun than a non-laser-quipped gun.

Will a laser-equipped gun end an attack every time it is used?  Absolutely not.  But it is a non-lethal tool that has been proven to increase your odds of success - and survival.

Lasers and Improving Hit Ratios

U.S. law enforcement officers are some of the best-trained shooters in the world, but hit ratios from shootings in the field are staggeringly low.  NIJ data shows that police officers using traditional sighting and training methods hit their mark only 25% of the time when shots are fired.  Remember: these are trained professionals.  They are men and women who must qualify on the range with high scores in order to keep their jobs.

Missed shots pose big problems.  First and foremost, a miss means that the gunfight is still on, so the situation remains dangerous.  The second problem is that as a gunowner, you are accountable for every bullet you fire.  Bullets that miss the mark must land somewhere.  A stray bullet that hits an innocent bystander is your responsibility.

So why are hit ratios so low?  First, more than 80% of shootings occur at night, which makes aiming difficult.  Secondly, most armed encounters involve movement of the officer and/or the subject.  Again, hindering aim.  Lastly, if you add the sresses of a life or death situation, it's easy to see why so many rounds miss their mark.

When it comes to accuracy under high stress, laser sights give you an immediate and decisive advantage that no other handgun accessory can equal.  Improving your ability to aim under low-light and stressful situations will help you survive an armed encounter.  Bottom line: laser sights are a tool that improves your ability to see, evaluate, and aim.

Crimson Trace laser sights are used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies and military units worldwide.  Crimson Trace lasers have a proven record of performance and durability in the toughest laboratories - the streets and combat zones of the world.  The numbers bear out in Crimson Trace laser sights' success.  Agencies using Crimson Trace lasers are seeing hit ratios of more than 90% in officer-involved shootings.  That's a phenomenal 300% increase over historic levels.

The Gunfight We Hope You Never Have

When you're attacked, or you draw your gun to prevent violence, powerful changes rampage through your mind and body.  A powerful adrenaline rush, (the "fight-or-flight" response) kicks in, and you cannot stop it.  Your heart rate skyrockets, adrenaline flows, muscles tense, and vision narrows.  These changes prepare you for physical battle or a swift move to cover - yet these changes limit your ability to shoot accurately.

The most dramatic change is the loss of fine motor skill.  Your physiological reactions prepare your body to use the powerful muscles of your arms, legs, and torso to fight or escape.  Fine motor skill is sacrificed as it is not required for "fight-or-flight", but fine motor skills are necessary to operate a handgun effectively and efficiently.  Operating a handgun without fine motor skills is a struggle: you struggle to hold the gun steady, struggle to pull the trigger smoothly, and struggle to line up traditional sights accurately.

You need to be aware, and ensure your students are aware,  of the physiological effects which a lethal attack will have on you.  These include: target fixation/focus, limited near vision acuity, narrowed field of vision, auditory exclusion, "Spray & Pray" reflex, and Sympathetic Nervous System Reaction.

Most people involved in shootings report never seeing their sights, and it's no mystery why.  Our natural reaction, when faced with a threat, is to focus on the threat.  This "Target Fixation/Focus" is in keeping with our responsibility to first verfity, and then deal with, a dangerous scenario.

The Range vs. Reality

Practicing at a target range is an important activity for any defensive shooter.  Stance, sight alignment, breath control, and trigger control are all critical components of accurate shooting.  Practicing these will always be important.  Spend time at the range, and lots of it, but be aware that the time you spend on the range does not fully prepare you for real-world defensive shootings.

As a trainer, you know - and undoubtedly teach your students - that in a defensive shooting scenario, everything changes.  You're not at the range anymore.  You are defending your life - or the life of another.  Your heart is pounding up through your throat.  Your subject is cloaked in darkness.  You are fixated on your threat and your iron sights are an afterthought.  You have almost no time to respond.

More than 80% of shootings happen in low or reduced light1.  Even with night sights, darkness makes accurate shooting using traditional methods very challenging.  It is also a fact that most defensive shootings occur at very close range.  The attacker is usually within seven yards!

TESTIMONIAL

When split seconds count, and the price of failure may be counted in lives lost, the value of a reliable laser system is unequaled.  They give you the advantage when losing is unacceptable.  A must-have for home defense or duty carry.

- Roy Huntington - Law Enforcement Veteran, Firearms Trainer, & Writer

Split-second decisions have life and death consequences.  In most cases, there is no time for a traditional sight picture, or the range-perfected shooting stance.  Even if you manage such a response, you could be putting your gun within reach of the attacker, who might then disarm you.

Another big difference between the practice range and the real world is movement - as discussed in Part 2.4.  How often have you practiced shooting while moving or shooting at moving targets?  According to the NIJ, most shootings involve movement of either the shooter or the target.  Maintaining alignment with traditional sights in this situation is difficult at best.

Thanks to laser sights, you now have access to a tool that can help you overcome challenges including: darkness, close range, time and movement.  It's all about giving yourself the tools for surviving an encounter with real-world bad guys.  The idea is simple: project a visible dot onto the threat/target.

Sighting with laser sights is far more accurate during movement because then it is only necessary to keep the red (or green) laser dot on the target.  During high-stress confrontations, the laser provides an accurate indicator of muzzle orientation at all times.  More importantly, firing accuracy is more reliable than using muscle memory alone.  This is particularly true if your posture is strained or awkward, or if you've been wounded.

As we always say - range time is important.  Very important.  However, laser sights can increase the depth and intensity of your training.  With laser sights, effective dry-fire and live-fire practice will help shooters of all skill levels.  These techniques, such as shooting on the move and from awkward positions, are vital to surviving an armed encounter.

Accuracy While Moving

Another real-life shooting scenario that's very different from range practice involves shooting while the shooter and the target are moving.  If a student ever has to shoot in a real-life situation, it's very likely that they'll be moving.  It's also very likely that the "bad guy" will be moving too.  This reality once again shows the absolute power of laser sights as a defensive training tool for moving-target situations and moving-shooter situations.

Laser sights on a Blue Gun™ allows your students to practice keeping their gun's muzzle on target while walking, running, or crawling.  In fact, trainers for years have recommended moving when faced with a threat to create distance and force the opponent to aim at a moving target.  Laser sights are very helpful in this scenario, and as a training tool to enhance the learning process.

Unconventional Shooting Positions

Accurately sighting a handgun while lying prone or positioned behind cover can be very difficult, even for highly trained shooters.  The eyes and the gun's sights just don't align very well when the shooter isn't standing up.  Laser sights overcome this challenge and are the best tool ever developed for maintaining accurate sighting from awkward positions.

How do laser sights help?  Whether with a Lasergrips®-equipped Blue Gun™, or a positively inoperable training gun, Crimson Trace laser sights give your students an opportunity to practice orienting their guns towards targets from any conceivable position.  The translation to real life applications is simple.  Laser sights allow your students to have confidence that they can accurately sight their gun from the ground, behind a door jam or car door, or any other real-life cover position.

A law enforcement officer once told us, "I've been in two shootings.  I've been shot in both of them, and I returned fire in both of them.  In neither one was I standing up...I don't even know why we bother to train standing up!"  Though his experience might be more than most of your students would ever encounter, the lesson still applies.  Shooting from a standing platform, squared to the target, is the furthest thing from the reality of most personal defense shooting scenarios.

Keeping Your Eyes on the Threat

Crimson Trace laser sights provide very effective sighting compensation when a student cannot see their sights due to darkness or low-light conditions, physical obstructions, eye contaminants (irritants, tears, blood), or loss of corrective lenses.  The bright red or green laser dot will accurately show the point-of-aim and point-of-impact, regardless of whether the student is able to visually align their sights on the target.

Laser sights can also allow the student to stay engaged with their target while they survey their shooting backdrop.  This permits assessing what may be next to, or behind, their target.  This is especially effective during high-stress situations where movement, noise, and "tunnel vision" become a factor.

Advanced Laser Training Techniques

Part 2 of this series covers advanced defensive training.  It may not fall within the scope of your credentials, abilities, and/or the NRA program you teach.  Use it as appropriate.

Once a student is skilled and competent in basic firearms use and safety, instructors can move into more advanced training and scenarios, such as marksmanship or defensive tactics.  Crimson Trace laser sights can easily be incorporated into advanced shooting drills and scenarios to demonstrate the laser's unique advantages as a tactical firearms enhancement.

Trainers know that developing consistent shooting results involves imparting an instinctive "muscle memory" that develops through repetition of sound shooting techniques.  Using laser sights in training accelerates the development of muscle memory by visually correlating the "feel" of the firearm's position with the actual point-of-aim.  No other training tool can do this.  Once established, muscle memory transitions easily to training with traditional sights or with the laser turned off.

Teaching Sight Alignment Using Lasers

After trigger control, sight alignment is probably the next most important skill needed for good shooting results.  Yes, the laser itself can be used as a sighting tool.  Crimson Trace laser sights are also extremely effective for teaching traditional sight alignment because they clearly show exactly where the student is aiming.

Often you'll see trainers stand behind a student and try to look "through" a student's head to see what their sight alignment (sight picture) looks like.  How many times have you done it?  Unfortunately, it is impossible for more than one person to look down the sights of a pistol at the same time.  Laser sights help by demonstrating exactly where the bullet will strike the target, without taking a shot.

Here's how: First, the instructor needs to make sure the laser dot and the traditional sights are aligned at 5 to 7 yards.  Next, confirm your student understands what proper sight picture is by reviewing all the charts, pictures, models, diagrams, or any other tools you use to demonstrate proper sight picture.

Now it gets easy.  With the laser activated - with Lasergrips® or Laserguard® with Instinctive Activation™, the laser is activated while the firearm is held in a natural firing grip - ask the student to aim through their traditional sights at a target while you block the laser beam with your finger.  When your student confirms that they have "perfect" sight picture and alignment with the target, ask them to hold that position.  Now move your finger.  If their sight picture was perfect, the dot will hit the center of the target.  If the dot is anywhere else, then they obviously need to realign their sight picture.  Students also can perform the excercise by blocking and unblocking the laser with their own trigger finger (with Lasergrips only).  Usually, trying again several times until the dot and target align consistently is all it takes to confirm proper sight picture in their mind's eye.  If the dot is repeatedly off the target center, go to the next step.

TESTIMONIAL

Sight alignment and trigger control are the secret to accurate handgun shooting.  Without command of these two actions...you will not hit what you aim at.

- Richard Mann, Author, "Handgun Training for Personal Protection"

Now you're going to reverse the process.  Have the student aim their gun at the target.  This time they are going to "lock" the laser on the target and look slightly over the traditional sights.  The student holds the dot on the target and keeps it there.  Then the student slowly lowers their eyes to the traditional sight picture, maintaining sight picture and the laser dot in the same place.  If the student has a poor understanding of sight picture, they will force the dot into a different location as they revert to their "mind's eye" view of the sight picture.  Once the student maintains "proper" sight picture while keeping the dot on target, they usually have it.

Developing accurate sight picture is often very frustrating to both trainers and students.  Laser sights provide an effective, visible training tool that can dramatically reduce teaching time and improve results.

Lasers for Learning Trigger Control

Without question, one of the most critical techniques in achieving consistent shooting results is proper trigger control.  Although trainers continue to repeat words, "smooth, steady trigger press" repeatedly, students are often confused about what is happening with their trigger pull and why they may not be correcting poor technique.  Crimson Trace laser sights are hands-down the fastest and most effective tool for diagnosing and correcting trigger control issues.

The obvious advantage of using Crimson Trace laser sights is that they put a visibile dot on the target to clearly show students and trainers the impact of every improper movement during the shooting process.  The visual impact shows students their errors in real time and allows them to self-correct.

Dry firing while holding the dot on the target is a very effective training technique.  Once students have demonstrated that they can perform dry-fire drills with the laser staying steady, they are ready for live fire.  Firing with the laser on, then firing with the laser off, will immediately demonstrate whether a student has retained proper trigger control technique.  If a student regresses, unloading the gun and going through further dry-fire sessions and trigger control drills will reinforce the right habits.

Training Basics Using Laser Sights

Shooting, like many other disciplines, is best learned as a process.  By embedding proper physical skills through repetition and hands-on practice, your students will become better at the process.  Crimson Trace laser sights support this learning by providing immediate visual feedback on how well the student is executing a given technique.

The conflict is this: learning the process is the ultimate goal, but bullet  placement on the target is how the student is evaluated.  It's easy to focus on the result - holes in the target - instead of the process that created them.  Furthermore, these holes are often created under a stressful firing range environment, where students experience doubt, peer pressure and anxiety.

How does training with a laser help?  Unlike simply observing the student and looking at holes in a target to evaluate skill, the laser vividly illustrates the complete picture of gun handling and technique from start to finish.  Think of the laser as showing the coach and student a movie with all of the details filled in (process), rather than just a snapshot (results...holes in the target).  The most important habits and behaviors of the shooter, from safety and presenting the firearm, through shooting and following through after firing a round, are visible, recordable and available as a teaching tool.  Use the laser with an empty gun to diagnose bad habits and impart new, correct ones.

Probably the most significant training assistance Crimson Trace laser sights provide is diagnosing and correcting two critical skills: trigger control and sight picture.  If you come away with one thing, it's that laser sights will positively become your go-to tactic for diagnosing and correcting trigger control and sight picture techniques.  There is simply no better tool available.

Safety is your first priority

Safety is the overriding concern at all times.  Always keeping the gun pointing in a safe direction is a MUST.  Using Crimson Trace Lasergrips® or Laserguard® laser sights with Instinctive Activation™, the bright red or green dot projecting from a student's gun lets an instructor know where each student's muzzle is pointing from any location on a range.

When using laser sights as a training tool, there is no longer a need to say, "Imagine you have a laser projecting from the muzzle of your gun".  Now you have a "real" visual tool to reveal unsafe muzzle control.  As a trainer, you have surely witnessed the horror of someone unexpectedly turning with their gun, drawing and presenting with the muzzle sweeping their hands, sweeping their hand while re-holstering, clearing a malfunction, or unloading with the muzzle flying in all directions.

Crimson Trace Lasergrips® and/or Laserguard® products draw clear attention to where every muzzle is pointed at all times.  Laser sights provide indisputable evidence of safe or unsafe muzzle direction, making your job easier and your students safer.

PART SIX: ACCURACY ON THE MOVE & UNCONVENTIONAL SHOOTING POSITIONS

In Part 6 of "The Laser's Edge", Todd Jarrett demonstrates the use of laser sights in engaging targets while on the move as well as accuracy in compromised shooting positions.  In this segment, Jarrett shows how lasers can help provide pinpoint accuracy from any position, how they can allow you to confidently shoot over and around obstacles, and how laser sights enhance target acquisition while moving.

"With iron sights, it's very difficult to concentrate on your front sight," explains Jarrett, "The laser give you huge advantages because you're always concentrating on the target.  If you're moving and the target's moving, you can never, ever, concentrate on the front sight.  The laser gives you that precision and accuracy at all times."

PART FOUR: CONCEALED CARRY

In Part 4 of "The Laser's Edge", Michael Bane demonstrates the use of laser sights for concealed carry permit holders.  In this segment, Bane covers how lasers are a distinct advantage for modern small frame handguns which offen feature small iron sights (if any at all), how Crimson Trace laser sights activate "instinctively" during presentation, and how lasers are a necessity for accuracy with compact handguns.

"When we talk about criminals, what we're talking about are individuals who make risk / reward decisions," explains Bane, "They're trying to decide if you're going to be prey today.  When they see that red dot or they see that green dot, there's one thing they know with absolute certainty.  There is a bullet behind the dot...it helps criminals make really informed decisions."

PART THREE: TARGET VISIBILITY

In Part 3 of "The Laser's Edge", Richard Mann discusses how the use of laser sights in a self-defense situation can increase total threat visibility and to help fight off "tunnel vision".  In this segment, Mann shows how lasers can increase peripheral vision during a crisis, and how they can allow you to focus on your threat - not on your sights.

"If I'm a bad guy, you better be looking at me...every bit of me," explains Mann.  "Why?  I might have a gun...and if I do have a gun, I may decide to pull it, and if I do, it's gonna be quick.  You need to see that movement when it starts - not when it's over.  The true stopping power of a handgun are not the the bullets that come out of the barrel - it's the pshychological effect it has when it's pointed at someone."

Acceptance of any part of a shipment shall not bind Buyer to accept the remainder of that shipment or any future shipments or constitute a waiver of Buyer’s right to return any goods accepted for which Buyer may otherwise have a right of return, including, but not limited to, as a result of a breach of warranty. If at any time during the performance of the PO Seller determines that it is possible that it will not be able to deliver in accordance with the delivery schedule, Seller shall promptly notify Buyer of the cause and expected duration of any anticipated delay. Should the actual delivery date be later than the delivery date specified in the PO through no fault of Buyer, Seller shall pay the difference between the cost of standard shipping and the cost of premium transportation. On goods delivered more than five (5) days in advance of the delivery date specified on the PO without Buyer’s written approval, Buyer reserves the right, without loss of discount or payment term privileges, either to pay these invoices according to the original payment schedule in the PO without regard to the actual delivery date or to return the goods at Seller’s expense.

3. Buyer may delay delivery and/or acceptance occasioned by causes beyond its control. Buyer may terminate, in whole or in part, the PO at any time without further liability to Seller by email or other written notice to Seller for Buyer’s convenience. In the event of such notice of termination, Seller shall immediately cease all work which is subject to such termination. In such case, Buyer’s liability shall be limited to, in the case of non-standard Goods, to the direct actual and reasonable costs of work and materials incurred and substantiated by Seller in direct connection with such Goods subject to such termination (provided that Seller has made reasonable efforts to mitigate such costs) and, in the case of standard Goods, the price of the Goods shipped prior to the termination, provided, however, that in no event shall Buyer’s liability exceed the outstanding balance of the price of such Goods and shall not include any loss of profits. Any termination claim must be submitted to Buyer within fifteen (15) days after the effective date of the termination. Buyer will make no payments for finished work, work-in-process, or raw material fabricated or procured by Seller in excess of any order or release. Except as otherwise provided in the Terms, the provisions of this clause will not apply to any cancellation by Buyer for default by Seller or for any other cause allowed by law or under the Terms. Upon payment Buyer shall be entitled to all work and materials paid for.

4. All goods delivered under the PO shall be packed and packaged by Seller to ensure safe arrival at the “Ship to” address contained on the face of the PO. All goods, wrapper and containers shall bear all markings required by applicable federal, state and municipal laws. All outside packaging shall bear the PO number, Buyer’s part number, and quantity. All invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and shipping orders shall bear the PO number, item number(s), Buyer’s part number, quantity and description. If shipping terms are not defined on the face of the PO, the shipping terms shall default to the following: (a) for U.S. domestic orders, FOB destination; and (b) for non-U.S. orders, DDP destination (Incoterms 2000).

5. Unless another payment term has been expressly agreed to by Buyer or is noted by Buyer on the face of the PO, all invoices furnished hereunder by Seller, if approved by Buyer, are due and payable thirty (30) days following the date of which such invoice was received. All claims for monies owing by Seller or its affiliates to Buyer or its affiliates, whether under a PO or otherwise, shall be subject to set off by Buyer against any present or future monies owed by Buyer or its affiliates to Seller or its affiliates. In the event any such monies are denominated in different currencies, Buyer may set off in the currency of Buyer’s choice and the monies denominated in another currency shall be converted into such currency at the exchange rate in effect on the date of set off.

6. All prices are inclusive of all taxes and duties except as otherwise expressly agreed by the parties (including agreement to an Incoterm). All such taxes and duties deemed included in the price shall be borne by Seller, and Seller shall pay such taxes and duties directly or reimburse Buyer for them. Risk of loss after delivery (as specified in the applicable delivery term) but prior to actual receipt and/or acceptance of goods by Buyer shall be borne by Seller notwithstanding any agreement with respect to the payment of transportation charges.

7. In addition to any implied warranties, Seller expressly warrants that all goods and services covered by this order shall be new (unless otherwise expressly specified in the PO), conform to the specifications, drawings, samples, or other description upon which this order is based, fit and sufficient for the purpose intended, merchantable, of good material and workmanship and free from defect, and that goods and services of Seller’s design will be free from defect and design. Inspection, test, acceptance, or use of the goods furnished hereunder shall not affect Seller’s obligation under this warranty, and such warranties shall survive inspection, test, acceptance, and use. This warranty shall run to Buyer, its successors, assigns, customers, and the users of its products. Seller agrees to, at Buyer’s option, replace or correct defects of any goods or services not conforming to the foregoing warranty promptly, without expense to Buyer, when notified of such nonconformity by Buyer. In the event of failure by Seller to correct defects in or replace nonconforming goods or services promptly, Buyer, after reasonable notice to Seller, may, at Buyer’s option, (a) make such corrections or replace such goods and services and charge Seller for the cost incurred by Buyer thereby, or (b) receive a refund from Seller of the purchase price of the Goods, or (c) credit Buyer for all rework expenses. Seller shall hold Buyer harmless for any costs, expenses and damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, arising from a breach of these warranties. Failure of the Goods to conform to the specifications, apparent or hidden defects in the Goods, or Seller’s breach of any implied or express warranty are not waived by Buyer’s acceptance of all or any part of the Goods.

8. Seller warrants that the Goods and use thereof does not and will not infringe upon any patent, trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property right. Seller agrees to defend Buyer (which term includes Buyer, its subsidiaries and affiliates, their successors and assign, and the vendees of such persons or companies, mediate and immediate) at Seller’s own expense in, from or against any claim, action, suit , proceeding, trial or appeal of every kind resulting from or arising out of or in connection with any actual or claimed patent, trademark, copyright, or other intellectual property right infringement with respect to any of the Goods; and Seller further agrees to indemnify Buyer and hold it harmless from and against all charges, claims, demands, liabilities, losses, costs, expenses, attorney fees, judgments, orders, decrees and damages of every kind resulting from or arising out of or in connection with respect to any of the Goods. Buyer shall have the right to participate and be represented in any such action, suit or proceeding by its own counsel at its own expense. In case the sale or use of the Goods shall be found to constitute patent, copyright, or trademark infringement and their use is enjoined, Buyer may, at its sole option, pursue any remedy or remedies available at law or in equity, including without limitation, requiring Seller to either procure for Buyer the right to continue using such Goods, modify them so they become non-infringing, or remove them and refund to Buyer the total purchase price therefore.

9. In the event Seller fails to comply with, or Buyer for any reason anticipates any difficulty for Seller in complying with, any of the terms, requirements or warranties of the Terms, or fails to make progress so as to endanger performance or if there is an appointment of a receiver or trustee or an assignment for the benefit of
Seller’s creditors, Buyer shall be entitled to demand Seller to, at Seller’s expense, remedy the noncompliance or seek assurance that Seller has the intent and ability to perform, as the case may be, in a period to be set by Buyer in its reasonable discretion. If Seller fails to meet such demand within such period or if such noncompliance is incapable of being cured, Seller shall be in default without further notice being required. In the event Seller is in default, Buyer shall be entitled to terminate all or any part of the PO by email or other written notice, in whole or in part, such without prejudice to any other rights or remedies provided elsewhere in the Terms or available at law (including the right to seek indemnification of damages set forth in the Terms) without any liability by Buyer to Seller. In the event of Seller’s breach of the Terms, (a) Buyer retains the right to cancel any remaining portion of any order, to return any portion of Goods delivered and accepted and to recover the purchase price and damages, including manufacturing costs, costs or removal or recall, transportation and custodial expenses, injury to person or property, damage to business reputation, loss of profits and all other incidental and consequential damages suffered by Buyer, all in addition to and not exclusive of Buyer’s other remedies provided by law, and (b) Buyer may produce, purchase, or otherwise acquire supplies or services elsewhere on such terms or in such manner as Buyer may deem appropriate, and Seller shall be liable to Buyer for any excess cost or other expenses incurred by Buyer.

10. All goods used in meeting the requirements of the PO shall have been manufactured by Seller in accordance with the terms of the Fair Labor Standards Act and all other applicable federal, state and municipal laws, rules and regulations (including environmental and safety laws and regulations). In the event of dangerous or hazardous goods, Seller shall notify Buyer of the composition of such goods and of all laws, regulations and other requirements relating to such goods in order to allow Buyer to properly transport, store and process such goods.

11. Any specifications, drawings, information, tools, molds, jigs, dies and other materials furnished to Seller or funded or paid for (whether separate as a part of the unit price), in whole or in part, by Buyer shall remain or become Buyer’s property, be used exclusively for the purposes of performance in accordance with the Terms, be clearly marked as Buyer’s property and be segregated when not in use, be properly used, maintained and kept in good working condition at Seller’s expense and be delivered to Buyer promptly on Buyer’s demand. Seller agrees to use only for the purposes of performance in accordance with the Terms all information (whether of a technical or commercial nature or otherwise), provided in whatever form or medium by or on behalf of Buyer and to give access to such information on a need to know basis only to its employees who have obligations to protect such information on terms no less restrictive than those set forth herein and not to transfer, publish, disclose or otherwise make available such information or any portion thereof to any third party or persons without Buyer’s prior written consent. Seller shall return any copies or reproductions thereof immediately upon Buyer’s demand. Seller shall not use the name, logo, trademark, or any other reference to Buyer, either direct or indirect, in publicity releases, advertising, case studies, sales literature or reference of or to Buyer nor disclose, advertise or publish the existence or the terms and conditions of the Terms, without the prior written consent of Buyer.

12. Seller agrees that any information, drawings, know-how, specifications, ideas, designs, concepts, techniques, improvements, discoveries, developments, inventions, technologies and other work products generated or developed in the course of work performed under the Terms by Seller and any intellectual property and other proprietary rights therein or thereto shall vest into Buyer and Seller agrees to assign or cause to be assigned to Buyer all right, title and interest to any and all such rights and to do all such things as are necessary to perfect such rights and to protect Buyer’s interest therein.

13. If the Goods are or contain licensed software, Seller grants to Buyer a nonexclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to such software sufficient in scope for the intended use (including the right to transfer the license for, or the right to sublicense, the software). The license fee shall be included in the price.

14. Buyer’s engineering and technical personnel may from time to time render assistance or give technical advice to Seller. This liaison effort concerning the work to be performed under the PO shall not be construed as authority to change the work to be performed or the provisions of the PO. Only Buyer’s appointed purchasing representative is authorized to make changes to the PO.

15. In addition to and not exclusive of any other right or remedy available under the Terms or at law, Seller agrees that it will indemnify and hold Buyer, its affiliates and its and their successors and assigns harmless from and against all liabilities, claims, suits, proceedings, judgments, orders, fines, losses, damages, costs and expenses ( including reasonable attorneys’ fees), whether direct or indirect (including, without limitation, loss of profits ), arising from or relating to nonconforming or defective goods or services and/or Seller’s or its officers, employees, agents or subcontractors negligence, failure to comply with the terms or other requirements of the Terms or otherwise any act or omissions to act arising from, related to or in connection with the Terms.

16. General.
a. All notices and communications required or permitted hereunder shall be in writing and may be given in person, by courier or other expedited delivery service, electronic transfer (e-mail or fax) or by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested, postage prepaid, addressed to the party intended as a recipient at the address of such party set forth on the face of the PO. All notices given by registered or certified mail as set forth above shall be deemed given and made on the third business day after deposit in the mail; all other notices and communications shall be deemed given and made upon receipt by the addressee.
b. Seller shall not assign or subcontract any of its rights and obligations under the PO to any third party without the prior written consent of Buyer.
c. No waiver of any breach of any condition, covenant or term shall be effective unless it is in writing and accepted by Buyer. Buyer’s failure to insist on performance of any term or condition or to exercise any right or privilege shall not constitute a waiver or acceptance.

The Laser's Edge DVD for Handgun Laser Sight Training

Gun Training VideoRaising the bar for laser sight training and education

The world can be a dangerous place.  Equipping your firearm with the leading laser and light systems will enhance your effectiveness and ultimately aid in keeping you and your family out of harm's way.  This is one of many reasons Crimson Trace has once again created a FREE firearms training video unlike any other.

The original - "The Art of Survival" - has been fundamental in the education and training of laser sight technology.  "The Laser's Edge" will teach you the advantages Crimson Trace laser sights and tactical lights offer.  To demonstrate proper training techniques, we have assembled some of the most trusted experts in the firearms industry.

Trailer

This 2:30 trailer introduces Crimson Trace’s informative laser sighting video, “The Laser’s Edge”, which raises the bar for laser training and education and features instruction and commentary from top industry names.

SHOT Show Version

Originally debuting in front of hundreds of anxious viewers at SHOT Show 2013, this expanded preview of “The Laser’s Edge” features top sections from each chapter of Crimson Trace’s new DVD.

Instinctive Activation™

Iain Harrison demonstrates the distinct tactical advantages that Crimson Trace laser sights with Instinctive Activation™ provide.  When the handgun is held in a normal firing grip, laser activation is instantaneous.

Training With Lasers

Julie Golob demonstrates how laser sights make excellent training tools for new and experienced shooters alike by providing instant feedback while perfecting precise trigger control and muzzle discipline.

Target Visibility

Richard Mann discusses how the use of laser sights in a self-defense situation can increase total threat visibility and fight off “tunnel vision”, allowing the shooter to focus on the threat – not on their sights.

Concealed Carry

Michael Bane demonstrates the use of laser sights for concealed carry permit holders.  Bane covers how lasers are a distinct advantage for modern small frame handguns, which often feature small iron sights.

Weapon Mounted Lights

Michael Bane discusses weapon-mounted lights and their use in self-defense situations.  Bane showcases the Crimson Trace Lightguard™ system and it’s broad yet bright beam and how it operates for threat detection.

Accuracy On The Move

Todd Jarrett demonstrates the use of laser sights in engaging targets while on the move, as well as accuracy, in compromised shooting positions.  Jarrett also shows how lasers help you confidently shoot from behind cover.

Expert Conversations

In this exclusive footage taken from “The Laser’s Edge”, noted firearms shooting and training experts discuss several hot topics including threat assessment, target focus, gun selection for women, and much more.

Outtakes

Rescued from the cutting room floor, this short outtakes selection from “The Laser’s Edge” shows that, while this is a serious business, it’s OK to have a little lighthearted fun as well.

TRAINING & EDUCATION

You may be a new shooter, a long-time gun owner, or even law enforcement or military.  It does not matter.  Crimson Trace can help you be a more confident and accurate shooter.  These experienced trainers and competitors, in conjunction with the product information on this interactive DVD, will give you The Laser's Edge.

Crimson Club™ is a free online consumer loyalty program that rewards participating members with “Points” that can be redeemed for discounts on product purchases on the Crimson Trace website.  Members are only required to provide their first name, last name, and a valid email address for membership.

Who can sign up for Crimson Club?
Any online consumer with a valid email address may sign up for Crimson Club.  Membership is free, and members will receive 100 Points instantly when they register for the Club (members can also earn 100 additional points by subscribing to the Crimson Trace eNewsletter – available at registration).

What are Crimson Club “Points”?
“Points” are the currency of Crimson Club.  Members can earn and spend Crimson Club Points, provided they are “logged in” during their activity.

How do I earn Crimson Club Points?
Crimson Club Points are earned when you purchase products or engage in other select activities on the Crimson Trace website, such as Referrals to your friends and family.  Members must be logged in for points to apply to their account.  For a full listing of Crimson Club Point Values, click here.

How do I spend Crimson Club Points?
Crimson Club members may use Points towards Crimson Trace products on the Crimson Trace website only.  Members may choose to use as little or as many Points as they have available in their account on each purchase.  There is no cash value on Points.

How do Referrals work?
Members may “refer” Crimson Club to their friends and family through the account login interface via an email invitation.  If your referrals register for Crimson Club, you will earn Points (provided that the referred member clicks the referral link in the email – “tagging” them as your referral).  The new member that you referred will receive the Points in their account as a new member. If your referred member(s) order product(s), you will also receive additional points.  This feature is currently in development.

Can I transfer points to my other email address or to a friend?
No.  Members’ points are tied exclusively to their account, and may not be combined with other members’ accounts, including an additional account of your own.  We kindly ask that you create one Crimson Club account.  Should your email address change, or if you wish to use a different email address on your account, you may edit this when logged in.

I just bought Crimson Trace product(s) before I joined the Crimson Club.  Can I have Points?
No.  Crimson Club Points are not retroactive to previous orders, and are only applicable to orders and activities that have taken place since you have registered as a member and you are signed in to your account.  Points earned on a purchase are available towards your next order.

Can I use the Points I’m earning on a purchase to get a discount now?
No.  The Points you are earning towards a current purchase are only useable towards your next purchase.  Once the purchase is completed, the Points you’ve earned will be populated into your account, and ready for use on your next order.

I bought my Crimson Trace product(s) somewhere else.  Can I have Points?
No.  Crimson Club Points are only applicable to orders or activities in association with the Crimson Trace website.

I’m not getting any Points for activities.  Why?
Verify that you are logged in to your Crimson Club account.  Unless you are signed in to an active account, Points will not be added to your account.  Check to see if you are logged in on the upper right hand corner of your screen under the section entitled “My Account”.

I have Points to use on my order, but I don’t see how to add them?  Why?
Verify that you are logged in to your Crimson Club account.  Unless you are singed in to an active account, your Points will not be available for use.

I have more Points than the product that I want to purchase costs.  Can I have the money?
No.  Crimson Club Points carry no cash value.  You may use your Points up to the complete value of the product(s) you’re interested in purchasing.  Unused points will remain in your account.

When will my Points expire?
At this time, Crimson Club Points do not have an expiration date.  We do, however, reserve the right to modify this policy at any time, and provide all members with clear communication of the updated policy.

I don’t have an email address OR wish to share mine.  Can I still sign up?
No.  In an effort to provide a streamlined registration and account management experience, Crimson Club information is connected to your account via a valid email address.  At this time, an email address is required for your participation.

I don’t want to give my email address.  Can I still sign up?
No.  Crimson Club information is connected to your account via a valid email address.  At this time, an email address is required for your participation.

I gave my email address.  Will I get spammed?
No.  Crimson Trace, under no circumstances, will sell, trade, or make available, your email address to any other parties.  Your participation in the Club (and associated Crimson Trace email communication) is voluntary, and you may choose to leave and/or unsubscribe at any time.

Can I lose my Points?
Yes.  Crimson Trace reserves the right to revoke member Points in the event of abuse or dishonesty.  Points that have been earned through the valid purchase of Crimson Trace products will not be modified without notification.

1.7
A participant shall be disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct. Examples of unsportsmanlike conduct include:
     1.7.1
     Cheating, such as:
     1.7.1.1
Intentionally altering a target prior to the target being scored to gain advantage or avoid a penalty.
1.7.1.2 Altering or falsifying score sheets.
1.7.1.3 Altering the configuration of firearms or equipment without permission of the Match Director.
1.7.2 Threatening or assaulting other participants or Event Officials.

2 Safety
2.1 All International Multi-Gun Association (IMA) events will be run on cold ranges.
2.1.1 Participants firearms will remain unloaded at the event site except under the direction and immediate supervision of an Event Official.

2.3.2 Rifles and shotguns must be cased, secured muzzle up or muzzle down in a stable gun cart/caddy, or carried slung with the muzzle up.  Actions must be open and detachable magazines removed. The use of high-visibility open bolt indicator devices is recommended as a courtesy to other event participants.

2.4.1 A shot, which travels over a backstop, a berm or in any other direction deemed by Event Officials to be unsafe. Note that a participant who legitimately fires a shot at a target, which then travels in an unsafe direction, will not be disqualified.
2.4.2 A shot which strikes the ground within 10 feet of the participant, except when shooting at a target closer than 10 feet to the participant.
2.4.2.1 Exception - a shot which strikes the ground within 10 feet of the participant due to a “squib”.
2.4.2.2 In the case of a shot striking a prop where the projectile is deflected or does not continue to strike the ground, if an Event Official determines that the projectile would have struck the ground within 10 feet of the participant had it not been deflected or stopped by the prop, the provisions of 2.4.2 shall apply.
2.4.3 A shot which occurs while loading, reloading or unloading any firearm.
2.4.3.1 Exception - a detonation which occurs while unloading a firearm is not considered an accidental discharge.
2.5 A participant who performs an act of unsafe gun handling will be stopped by an Event Official as soon as possible, and shall be disqualified. Examples of unsafe gun handling include:
2.5.1 Dropping a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, at any time after the “Make Ready” command and before the “Range Is Clear” command.
2.5.1.1 Dropping an unloaded firearm before the “Make Ready” command or after the “Range Is Clear” command will not result in disqualification, provided the firearm is retrieved by an Event Official.
2.5.2 Use of any unsafe ammunition as defined in Section 3.
2.5.3 Abandoning a firearm during a stage in any location other than a safe abandonment location as stipulated in the stage briefing. Firearms may only be abandoned in one of the following conditions:
2.5.3.1 Loaded, safety catch fully engaged, muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.
2.5.3.2 Completely unloaded (no ammunition in the firearm), detachable magazine removed, muzzle pointed in the designated safe direction.
2.5.4 Unloading any firearm in an unsafe manner, or discharging a firearm while not legitimately engaging a target.
2.5.5 Allowing the muzzle of a firearm to break the 180 degree safety plane.
2.5.5.1 In the case of a participant facing downrange, the muzzle of a loaded handgun may point slightly uprange while drawing or reholstering, so long as it does not point outside an imaginary circle of three (3) feet radius from the participant’s feet.
2.5.6.4 Engaging steel targets with shotgun slug ammunition at a range of less than 131 feet.
2.5.6.5 Engaging steel targets with rifle ammunition at a range of less than 164 feet.
2.5.7 Allowing the muzzle of a firearm to point at any part of the participant’s body during a course of fire (i.e. sweeping).
2.5.7.1 Exception - sweeping of the lower extremities (below the belt) while drawing or re-holstering a handgun, provided that the participant’s fingers are clearly outside of the trigger guard.
     2.5.8 Using a tube-type shotgun speed-loading device without a primer relief cut.
2.5.9 Pointing a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, in any direction deemed by Event Officials to be unsafe.

3.3 Shotgun ammunition shall be 20 gauge or larger, unless otherwise stipulated under equipment division rules.
3.3.1 Birdshot must be no larger than #6 birdshot, and be made from lead or bismuth only. Iron/steel/tungsten birdshot is unsafe and prohibited.  No buckshot allowed
3.4 Ammunition containing tracer, incendiary, armor piercing, steel jacketed or steel/tungsten/penetrator core projectiles is unsafe and prohibited.

4 Firearms
4.1 All firearms used by participants must be serviceable and safe. Event Officials may inspect a participant’s firearms at any time to check they are functioning safely. If any firearm is declared unserviceable or unsafe by an Event Official, it must be withdrawn from the event until it is repaired to the satisfaction of the Range Master.
4.2 Participant firearms capable of fully automatic- or burst-fire (“machine guns”) may be used only in semi-auto mode (i.e. not more than one (1) round fired with each pull of the trigger). Violation of this rule will incur a 30 second time penalty per occurrence.
4.3 Participants must use the same firearms (handgun, rifle and shotgun) for the entire event.
4.3.1 If a participant's firearm becomes unserviceable, that participant may replace their firearm with another of a substantially similar model, caliber and sighting system only with the approval of the Match Director.
4.4 Participants generally may not reconfigure any firearm during the course of the event. Explicitly prohibited acts include changing caliber, barrel length, shotgun magazine tube length and/or stock style. Explicitly permitted acts include installing or removing support devices (e.g. bipods), slings and other minor accessories (e.g. scope covers).
4.4.1 If a participant's firearm becomes unserviceable, that participant may repair their firearm with directly equivalent replacement parts. If replacement parts result in a significant change to the firearm configuration, then the repair must be approved by the Match Director.
4.5 Unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing, required firearms will begin the stage in the following ready conditions:
4.5.1 Handgun: Loaded to division start capacity and holstered. In the case of single-action autos or double-action autos with manual override safeties, the safety catch must be in the “safe” position. In the case of double-action autos & revolvers, the hammer must be down/forward.
4.5.2 Rifle: Loaded to division start capacity and held in the low ready position. Safety catch must be in the “safe” position.
4.5.3 Shotgun: Loaded to division start capacity and held in the low ready position. Safety catch must be in the “safe” position.
4.5.4 Participants may not touch or hold any firearm loading device or ammunition after the “Standby” command and before the “Start Signal” (except for unavoidable touching with the lower arms).

5 Equipment Divisions
5.1.1 Equipment divisions are: Open.
5.1.2 Failure to meet all of the equipment and ammunition requirements for the declared division shall result in the participant’s scores being excluded from the final event results.
5.2 Open division
     5.2.1 Handgun
5.2.1.1 Handgun holsters must safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement, and must completely cover the trigger. The belt upon which the handgun holster is attached must be worn at waist level. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are prohibited.
     5.2.2 Rifle
5.2.2.1 Supporting devices (e.g. bipods) are permitted, and may begin any stage folded or deployed at the participant’s discretion.
     5.2.3 Shotgun
5.2.3.1 Speed loading devices and/or detachable box magazines are permitted.
5.2.3.2 Tubular speed loading devices must feature a primer relief cut.
5.3  Sighting or lighting systems (e.g. lasers, scopes, and lights) may be added or removed between stages at the discretion of the competitor.

6 Scoring & Penalties
6.1 Stage score will be based on straight time plus penalties.
6.1.1 Unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing, IPSC cardboard “shoot” targets must be neutralized by receiving either one (1) A-zone hit, one (1) B-zone hit or two (2) hits anywhere in the scoring area.
6.1.3 Only holes made by bullets/slugs/pellets will count for score/penalty. Evidence that the bullet made the hole must be present on the target (i.e. crown or grease ring/mark). Holes made by shrapnel, fragments, wads or flying debris will not count for score/penalty.
6.1.4 Knock-down targets (e.g. Pepper Poppers) must fall to score. Swinging/flashing targets must react in the manner prescribed in the stage briefing. An Event Official may call hits.
6.1.5 Knock-down/swinging/flashing targets that do not fall/react will incur time penalties as follows:
6.1.5.1 Target did not fall/react, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
6.1.5.2 Target did not fall/react, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
6.1.6 Knock-down targets will be calibrated before the event begins.
6.1.6.1 Targets will be calibrated with a 9mm handgun using factory ammunition.
6.1.6.3 The Range Master will designate specific supplies of 9mm ammunition, and one or more handguns to be used as official calibration tools only by the Range Master or designated testing personnel. Designated calibration firearms and ammunition are not subject to challenge.
6.1.7 Frangible targets (e.g. clay pigeons) must break by gunfire to score. A target with a significant piece visibly detached is considered “broken”.   A BB hole is considered a break.
6.1.8 Frangible targets that do not break will incur time penalties as follows:
6.1.8.1 Target did not break, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
6.1.8.2 Target did not break, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
6.1.9 Scoring hits on designated “No Shoot” targets will incur a 5 second penalty per hit, up to a maximum of 2 hits per no-shoot. Steel “No Shoot” targets must fall to score. Frangible “No Shoot” targets must break to score.
6.1.10 Failure to follow procedures prescribed in the stage briefing will result in a 5 second penalty.
6.1.10.1 If a competitive advantage is deemed to have been gained, procedural penalties may be applied on a “per shot” basis.
6.1.10.2 Enhanced procedural penalties may be applied at the Match Director’s discretion if a participant willfully and egregiously violates stage procedures.
6.1.10.3 The rendering of any assistance or advice to a participant who is actively engaged in a stage (“coaching”) by any person other than an Event Official is prohibited. Event Officials may penalize the “coach” and/or the participant with a procedural penalty for each occurrence. Persistent coaching may be subject to the provisions of rules 1.4 and/or 1.7.
6.1.11 Additional penalties may be applied as stipulated in the stage briefing.
6.1.12 Stage Not Fired (SNF) penalty is 500 seconds per stage not fired.
6.1.13 The Match Director may specify a time limit for completing any stage by stating it clearly in the stage briefing. If a participant exceeds the time limit, they will be stopped by an Event Official and the stage will be scored as shot with all applicable miss and TNE penalties.
6.2 Stage Points
6.2.2 Stage points will be awarded to participants according to their stage time relative to the fastest time on that stage, using the equation STAGE_POINTS = ( FASTEST_TIME / PARTICIPANT_TIME ) x 100.
6.2.3 Total points accumulated for all stages will determine the event placement by division.
     6.2.4 Highest score wins.

7 Awards
7.1 One or more of the following individual participant categories may be recognized at the discretion of the Match Director:
     7.1.1 Overall: All participants

IMMEDIATE. DECISIVE. ADVANTAGE.™

IMMEDIATE. DECISIVE. ADVANTAGE.™

The question is no longer “do laser sights have a place in the world of handguns and personal defense”. That answer has long been a resounding “YES”. Today the specific question has become, “how much more effective will laser sights make me as a shooter?”

The answer, simply stated, is this: Crimson Trace laser sights provide you with instant and overwhelming advantages with a gun in your hand.  Advantages you wouldn’t otherwise have.  Advantages that mean everything in that split second when everything can change.

In general, handguns are compact firearms that can be difficult to aim and shoot accurately and effectively.  Crimson Trace lasers offer the advantage of consistent and accurate output. This translates into increased confidence and pistol shooting accuracy - even in tense and threatening scenarios, when hours and hours of vigilant training can disappear in a haze of panic and confusion.

It’s no secret that shooters of all skill levels own laser sights.  What’s less understood is that everyone can become a better, more confident shooter with the advanced technology and quality engineering of our ever-expanding line of laser sighting products.

TESTIMONIAL

I admit to being skeptical as far as these being worth the 'bang for the buck'. I'm now up to 5 sets in just a few years. None have ever failed on me, and the fact simply is that both my accuracy and speed...is significantly improved with these grips.

-Steve - Mineral, VA

Sounds like big talk, but the proof is in the shooting - backed by elite military and law enforcement agencies worldwide, not to mention thousands of responsible armed citizens nationwide. If you’re serious about being the best shooter you can be, you owe it to yourself to equip your guns with the Immediate, Decisive, Advantage™ that only Crimson Trace laser sights can provide.

The World's Only Grip-Integrated Laser Sights

In the spring of 1994, Crimson Trace developed and sold its first laser sight - an internal system for Glock pistols - and the handgun market hasn’t been the same since.  Just two years later, the newly patented, user-installed Lasergrips® were unveiled at the 1996 SHOT Show and the laser sighting revolution was on.   Over the years, the engineers at Crimson Trace have dedicated themselves to constant improvement and evolution of products that now number more than 200 – all proudly made in the United States.

As the world’s only grip-integrated, instinctively activated laser sight, Crimson Trace created a market with one goal in mind: to provide responsible firearms owners with a decisive aiming advantage that was reliable, ergonomic and simple to use – making confident and better shooters.

6 REASONS YOU NEED A LASER FOR CONCEALED CARRY

6 REASONS YOU NEED A LASER
FOR CONCEALED CARRY

1. LOW-LIGHT SIGHTING

Most armed self-defense situations happen in low light environments.  You're faced with making the most important shot of your life just when your iron sights are fading into the twilight.  That's when Crimson Trace laser sights earn their keep.

2. IMPROVED ACCURACY

Short-barrel snubbies and semi-autos are tough to aim beyond a few yards.  Many lack sufficient iron sights.  Lasergrips® and Laserguard® extend the effective range by projecting the point-of-impact onto the target.

3. QUICK TARGETING

Face it.  In a life or death situation, you're going to be looking at the threat, not at your front sight.  Why not place a highly visible mark on the threat, showing you exactly where your bullet will land?

5. HOLSTER & TACTICAL LIGHT COMPATIBILITY

Top flight holster manufacturers like Galco, DeSantis and BLACKHAWK! produce holsters to fit Crimson Trace laser sights.  Beyond that, Crimson Trace enjoys broad compatibility with the most popular holsters and tactical lights.

TESTIMONIAL

Crimson Trace lasers give me an edge, and in a fight, I want every advantage I can get.

-Jeff Quinn - GunBlast.com

6. BIG BAD SELECTION

Crimson Trace Lasergrips® and Laserguard® fit the most common concealed carry guns from top firearms manufacturers.

Real life engagements with Crimson Trace laser sights

Laser Sights in the Real World

Every day, Crimson Trace laser sights are used to save lives, thwart danger, or simply provide a better feeling of personal security.  We know this to be true because we're told this by our loyal fans and customers.  Crimson Trace lasers are used daily in military conflicts overseas, by police agencies keeping our nation safe, and by law abiding citizens protecting themselves, their homes, and their loved ones.

We want to hear your stories.  If you have used a Crimson Trace laser to defend a life, in a military or police engagement, to de-escalate a dangerous situation, or that you simply feel safer with a laser-equipped firearm at your side.....we want to hear about it.

"My partner and I had just started our PM shift when a robbery in progress call came out for the Rite-Aid in our area.  The location was about 4 miles away by freeway but due to rush traffic, we decided to take surface streets.  Nearing the location, another unit had already arrived and put out a broadcast with vehicle and suspect description.  We decided to jump on the freeway heading away from the location and see if we could pick up the suspects.

As we merged onto the freeway we both saw a vehicle that matched the crime broadcast.  We ran the plate which came back stolen.  Traffic was bumper to bumper so we just held back awaiting additional units.  The suspects chose to exit the next off ramp just as two additional units joined us.  As the suspects made a right hand turn we executed a felony  stop with three, two man, Sheriff units side by side.  While giving commands on our PA, I was stunned to see how many laser dots were lighting up the suspects.  It looked like someone had thrown a handful of ladybugs inside of their car.

It was evident that both suspects could see each other lit up with laser dots and they were very cooperative.  With suspects in custody, we recovered a loaded Beretta 92F with round in the chamber on the floorboard of the passenger side.  It turned out that with department authorization of your Crimson Trace Lasers, all six deputies had installed them on our duty weapons.  Things may have been very different had we had not proven to the suspects that they were well covered with substantial fire power."

"Last night, I was the victim of road rage.  The guy was honking at me, flashing his brights, and tailing me.  I thought I could let him pass by...moving on to the shoulder, so I did.  He did not.  He boxed me in, and I couldn't go anywhere.  He got out of his truck cussing and yelling at me, carrying a tire iron.

I told him to get back in his truck and leave, but he continued to come towards me.  I drew my weapon and pointed the laser at his chest.  I told him I would shoot if he got closer.  He looked down, ran back to his truck, and peeled out.  I didn't have to fire one round.  I believe if it had not been for your laser...I would have had to shoot the man.  Your product saved my life."

"I am truly, truly grateful for your company and your product.  I purchased my GLOCK 30 several years ago to carry off-duty...shortly after, I bought a Crimson Trace laser sight to (go) with it.  I felt it truly important to equip my gun with this, because I have been in several shootings and I know the importance of shot placement.  Shot placement is often difficult during critical incidents for various factors, (including), adrenaline, lighting, moving targets, etc.

On (date withheld), I was off-duty and walked in to a convenience store robbery being committed by a male with a gun.  My training kicked in and I ended up pursuing the robber.  We ran through an area with limited lighting.  The male was armed with a S&W 9mm - I was armed with my GLOCK 30 equipped with the Crimson Trace laser sight.

Thanks to this addition to my GLOCK, I was able to take a well-placed shot that neutralized the threat.  Unfortunately, he died from his injuries, but I made it out of this situation alive, and no one else was injured.  I truly credit your company with bringing me out on the winning side of this encounter...thank you for saving my life and the lives of so many people."

"I was attacked by a drunken neighbor...(who) spent two days putting up foul language signs in our yard in protest for calling the police on him for repeatedly threatening to 'kill me, kill my wife, kill my 12 year old daughter, then burn my house down'.  The neighbor was placing the signs on a metal pole he beat into the ground.  On the second day, after photographing the signs and taking them down all day, I told my daughter to go to bed to get up for Bible school first thing in the morning - and if she saw or heard anything, (to) come and get me.

My child was not in bed 5 minutes when she came to tell me that 'someone is looking in my windows with a flashlight'.  I went outside to see if anything was out there...(standing) for about 5 minutes with my Surefire® light.  The neighbor came out across his yard with a sign, a roll of duct tape and a hammer...when he got caught by surprise with a bright light

He flew around the corner of the sign pole and said very loudly, 'You die tonight, then I'm going over your dead body to kill your wife and daughter then burn your house down'.  He swung the claw hammer at my head back and forth, backing me ...down the driveway.  I tried to get in the house but he swung the hammer til I felt it go through my hair.  I have a disabling hip condition that keeps me from moving extremely fast and could not get up the steps without the hammer connecting with my head, so I was backed into...my garage.

I tried to talk him down while he continued to swing the...hammer at my head.  I punched him in the face and (struck) him with the Surefire light...my hip gave out and (we) both went down.  When he tried to get up, all I had left to protect myself and my family with was my SIG P229 on my side that I have a carry permit for.  I pulled it as a last resort and hit him in the head until he finally quit swinging the claw hammer at me.

He had 3 choices: run away, stay down, or rush-attack me.  He sat up and tried to rush me until I activated the CTC Lasergrips® (on my SIG)...I am absolutely sure that piece of equipment saved my life.  Even with a loaded chamber, I showed restraint and did not need to fire as the laser deterred him.  He held his head and ran away (only to be) arrested for first degree assault and carried away by the police and EMS to have 18 staples put in his head."

“A couple years back, my wife and I were driving home when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a white truck coming up quickly behind us.  I could see the driver was changing lanes and passing cars erratically when he came up directly behind me.  I was parallel to a car in the lane next to me, when the driver of the truck closed to a distance when all I could see is grill in my rear view mirror.  He began flashing his lights and revving his engine as he rode my tail and then he began to honk.  At this point, two thoughts crossed my mind: either this guy was in a hurry due to an emergency or it was road rage. As soon as I could get by the car next to me, I changed lanes and let him by.  The driver quickly sped past me and then cut within inches of the front of my car.

At this point, I told my wife to call 911 on her cell phone while we continued.  I also cleared my shirt and seat belt from my weapon, a Smith & Wesson 1911 with a Crimson Trace Lasergrips, holstered on my right side. The driver sped past and about 150 yards in front of me and slammed his brakes, sliding the truck to a stop across both lanes in front of me.  I quick-stopped about 25 yards behind the truck, stopping traffic behind me.  I could see the driver gesturing and yelling out the window of his truck.  About this time the 911 dispatcher came on the line and my wife began to report the incident.

The driver then stood on it, spinning the wheels and leaving smoke in his path.  We continued on our way, thinking at this point the incident had ended. When we arrived at a four-way intersection, the truck stopped in the turn lane at the corner.  As I arrived at the corner, I noted that I was basically trapped behind the truck and between a curb and light pole and vehicles next to and behind me. As I stopped we saw the driver swing open the door and jump out of the truck carrying something in his right hand.  He was well over 6 feet tall and big, and he was moving towards my car very quickly, yelling, screaming and shaking whatever it was in his hand.

My wife was reporting this to 911, and reporting that we were trapped with no way out.  As the driver approached my car he raised his right hand, looking like he was going to take a swing at my driver's side window, at which point I drew my weapon from my holster and as I cleared the steering wheel, turning towards my window I partially extended, engaged the Crimson Trace laser sight and placed the bright red dot center mass at about 6 feet from my window.

My wife was yelling at the 911 dispatcher that the driver was attacking our car and that I had a weapon drawn on the driver.  At this point the driver, came to an abrupt stop, and began yelling, ‘Look! He's pointing a gun at me’, as he quickly backed away from my car.  I exited my vehicle with my weapon maintained on the driver until he got into his truck and sped off.

The 911 dispatch call changed from a report of a dangerous driver to and road rage incident with a gun involved.  I took the phone from my wife and continued to report the situation to 911 dispatch when we arrived almost together at the intersection at my housing tract.  I noticed a Utah County Sheriff's deputy also turning into the tract.  I flashed my lights and honked to get his attention and we pulled into a gas station on the corner.  The Deputy approached my car, and I informed him that I was armed and had just reported the incident.

As I was discussing the incident with the deputy, I noticed the truck at the other end of the parking lot with several local city patrol units around it.  The driver had exited his vehicle and was yelling and screaming and pointing at me.  As soon as I had informed the deputy of the incident, the deputy also received almost identical statement from the other police officers on scene.  The driver admitted to doing exactly I had reported.

The deputy told me, that if he and his wife were in the same situation, he probably would have shot the driver, fearing for the safety of his wife and himself. I told him that had I not had the Crimson Trace laser, I would have probably had to shoot. But that the driver looked down and saw the red dot on his chest and he stopped immediately.  The Local Police cited the driver for road rage, dangerous driving and attempted assault.

The Local Officer and Deputy told me I showed great restraint, and also all the LEO's on scene wanted to see my Crimson Trace-equipped S&W 1911.  Since this incident, I have run into a couple of these LEO's and was told that they purchased Crimson Trace Lasers immediately after the incident for their personal carry weapons and even one for a spouse.

I feel that had I not had the Crimson Trace laser on my 1911, things would have been different, and I would have been forced into discharging my weapon in defense.  When asked about the incident, the driver stated that he was having a bad day and that I just happened to be in his way.  The Sheriff's Deputy told him, that his bad day almost cost him his life.”

At Crimson Trace, we understand that it’s easy to talk about our products, their merits, and how they function, but at the end of the day it’s you – the consumer – who will be the judge.  The best way to understand the unique tactical advantage of Crimson Trace laser sights is to actually use them yourself, but if that option is not possible, the second best choice is to “see” them in action.

In the last year, we’ve place a specific emphasis on the creation of many new videos that demonstrate our products from a performance, installation, and troubleshooting perspective.  In addition, we’re also diligent in our search for “fan videos” that have been shot and uploaded by Crimson Trace consumers – just like you!
