Best back up sights available, only wish they were available in green for better visibility during daylight shooting. When I first installed them I had to re-adjust the sights twice, because the sight wasn't on tight enough. I was afraid to over tighten the tiny allen screws that hold the sight onto the frame. You have to tighten them until you feel resistance and they snug up in order to be on correctly. I dropped the pistol from the couch to the floor and the factory iron night sights were knocked pretty far out of alignment, but the laser sight remained on point. It helped me adjust the iron sights close enough until I could fine tune it at 20 yards on the range. With the iron sights I close one eye to make sure I am on target, with the laser you can point instinctively and have both eyes open with greater awareness of your surroundings. The only issue I have is finding a good, THIN, SECURE, IWB holster for strong side carry. As far as the Hogue rubber grips, you have to have good hand skills to make it look factory. Mark the area where the bottom of the Laserguard is, with a black marker, over the top of the grips. Remove the grips carefully cut the rubber with a sharp razor on the inside of the markings. Remove less than you need, not more! I got mine to fit perfectly, like it came that way on the pistol. I eventually went back to the thin wood grips, as the Hogue grips were too thick. I like the fact that my wife, who doesn't like to shoot can pick up the pistol and feel confident she can hit something with it because of the laser, that alone is worth the price of admission. I always use the iron sights, the laser will help you to make sure you are holding the gun right and are aligned correctly on the shot. They should not be used as the sole aiming device but in addition to the primary iron sights. I have these CTC laser sights on my 12oz. .357 Magnum and they have never been off target, even after months in a sweltering automobile glove box and being concealed carried, they were still spot on at 20 yards, which is a distance I would never normally be able to shoot at with a 2" barreled J frame. 3. Great Addition to a great gun Review by Chauncey Rae

Easy to install. batteries for life. easy to adjust. stays on target with concealed carry. I use a pocket holster and a shoulder harness depending on how I am dressed and carry everyday. Laser stays on target. I had a hard time reaching the on/off button on the Sig Laser for the P238. This activation switch location takes no thought, it is automatic, grab the gun and the laser is on. 4. P238 w Hogue grips. Review by The Butler did it.
    Rating

As stated in an earlier review , this grip will not work on the P238/ P938 with Hogue grips. Very disappointing , I own these grips on other guns and love them. I plan on calling customer service to see if they have any options for installing them. This laser is much nicier than the Sig version , if you don't have Hogue grips. (Posted on 9/2/13)

  5. Outstanding piece of gear for CCH Review by OldArmy

In Texas during the summer concealed carry requires something that fits in the shorts. prior experience with civilian lasers was with the bodyguard 380. switch on is a fumble you cant afford in time of need. now my wife and I both carry a sig 938 in summer. the Lg492 requires no thought or extra action to get the laser involved. I am a retired Lt Col. my wife a retired cop. we are both good shots but my accurate distance just doubled and hers also ,( actually she always was better than me with a handgun). This is a great asset but is going to cost me money as I now feel the need to outfit her XDM and my 1911's (Posted on 8/21/13)

  6. P238/P938 How to mount Review by SnuffyKS
    Rating

I have both P238 & P938 and have mounted the CTC Lasergrip on each one but work is required. Tools required are hex wrench (for grip removal), X-Acto blade or equivalent & something to mark on the rubber grip. Using the shape of the grip switch where it attaches to the front strap as your guide, mark on the grip where rubber must be removed to allow the grip to fit around rather than over the grip switch. Carefully carve out the fingertip shaped piece and try the grip to see if you can reset the mounting screws. Good idea to cut less than it looks like is needed. You can always enlarge the opening. That is all, no rounding or further shaping is needed. Good luck! (Posted on 8/21/13)

  7. Disappointed :( Review by Size isn't everything

I purchased this laser with my new 938-9-SPORTS13 and I am VERY sad to say that I have wasted the extra $100 it cost to purchase this laser instead of the one made by Sig Sauer. Sig makes at least 2 models with the Hogue Rubber grips from the factory. This will NOT work with any of them! :( I'm not sure what to do now??? Please help!
Beautiful design and powerful laser, just won't work with the gun it is advertised to work with. (Posted on 6/6/13)

I purchased the LG-492 for my Sig P238 and love everything about it. It arrived in a nice sturdy box and was simple to install. The fit and finish is extraordinary - so much so that it looks like part of the gun instead of an aftermarket accessory. Zeroing in was simple. The switch in front of the trigger guard works well and and I love shooting with it. And lifetime batteries. Simply a great product! (Posted on 1/21/13)

I purchased this unit with the gun. I works flawlessly. I carry this gun concealed and the laserguard doesn't add any bulk to the weapon. It gives you that extra quick target acquisition without mdking the total gun clunky. I carry mine ebery (Posted on 12/25/12)

  10. Outstanding!! Review by Marty

This was my first experience with a CT device. When I got it and installed it on my P238 I was ti=otally impressed with the quality and fit...it was like it was part of the original design of the gun. I was also impressed by the laser. Perfect for indoor and the activation was perfect. I liked it so much I have since purchased one for another P238, a S&W, a Kimber, an XDs and will continue to have them on any gun I have. Thank you CT!!! (Posted on 11/24/12)

  11. I am Impressed Review by Dragonheart

I purchased a Crimson Trace Laser for my brand new Sig P-238 handgun about two month ago. I have to say I was very leery about this purchase from prior experience with handgun lasers. I first purchased a handgun laser over 25 years ago when they first came out and tried sever others since then. They were all very expensive, much larger and were total junk for their intended purpose. They wouldn’t hold zero or anything close, they added bulk and the batteries and switches were a constant problem, so you can imagine the difficulty in convincing me to even try another laser.

Since I had decided on the Sig P-238 as my new carry firearm because of it’s small size and weight I decided to give the Crimson Trace Laserguard a try on this handgun because of the recommendation of a trusted friend.

When the CT laser arerived I was impressed with it’s small size and light weight, but still doubtful. The installation was easy as it’s nothing more than installing the battery and then snapping the two halves together over the trigger guard and held in place by two tiny hex screws. The fit was about a good as it gets. The laser switch is a pressure switch under the third finger on the front of the gun’s handgrip.

Now to the shooting range: I placed a target at 10 meters on a large piece of cardboard and proceeded to shoot and adjust the laser. I was impressed that I could easily see the red laser during the day, but as with all red lasers direct sunlight on a target tends to wash out the beam making it difficult to see. The laser is adjusted for elevation and windage by means of two tiny hex head screws. Apparently, the factory setting was close enough for me to adjust the laser fairly quickly. One important point for old shooters as the laser adjustment is a little different from sighting in a scope or iron sights. On a scope you adjust the bullet point of impact to the intended center of the target. On the CT Laser you move the laser beam to the bullet point of impact. After adjustment I was easily able to keep my rounds in a 4-inch group most under 2-inches at 32 feet using just the laser. I was happy at this point, but the real test is will it keep zero?

I returned home and cleaned my new Sig since I had run over 300 rounds through it to assure to myself as to the handguns reliability. I first removed the laser and grips, field striped the gun and gave the gun a good cleaning in my sonic cleaner, then reassembled everything.

I carried the gun in my pocket for a week then went back to the range to see what the laser would do. I have to say the performance blew my socks off. At 32 feet all of the 20 rounds fired were still in a 4-inch circle most under 2-inches. For a laser to do this after being removed then reinstalled then carried for a week in my pocket, I find amazing. I also find it to be an exceptional training tool to get the feel of pointing the handgun without having to fire a shot. Needless to say at this point I am very pleased with the Crimson Trace Laser.

  12. Easy install, Easy Zero Review by West Texas Landman
    Rating

I got the LG 492 for my Sig Sauer P238 for Christmas and just love the way it looks on the pistol. It was super easy to install and I zeroed the laser at 15 yards using about 10 shots and a few tweaks on the elevation. I had never installed a Crimson Trace Laser guard before and I did it in under 5 minutes. Zeroing in was even easier. Since the sights on the P238 are a bit blocky the LG 492 proves its worth for those long distant shots, and that red dot will scare the hell out of any intruder or person wanting to do you or your loved ones physical harm. Thanks Crimson Trace!!!!!! (Posted on 1/9/12)

  13. Great Product Review by Eric

A red dot dancing along someones torso is a universal language. It says I win!!! Most people will stop in their tracks once they notice the laser. They dont want to take a chance, knowing that I have the upper hand! The Laser guard works just as well as the Laser grips! It holds zero, and provides a very rapid sight picture. Thank you CTC for your loyalty in making great American made products! (Posted on 12/16/11)
