  1. Fits perfectly on my Springfield 45 XD-M 3.8 compact Review by Shawn

After reading the comprehensive instructions and shooting at target 25-30 feet out, the sights were about 6" too high.....after a quick adjustment 2 times i got great groupings within 1/2" of target ...

After shooting my rifles and not my pistol lately - my aim was definitely off a little which is my fault - but after a few rounds and the said adjustment the laser is dead on.

I adjusted the "side wings" so they are flush with the end of the laser body .....looks better that way & i can easily activate it to turn on the laser.

It's great you get free batteries and a 3 year warranty....nice little perk !

No problems with tightness and should always check the screws anyway after shooting's common sense ;-) (Posted on 8/5/15)

  2. Own 4, 3 201 and Beretta handgrip Review by Flip

Love all 4 lasers. Have 2 ARs each with 201 mounted forward of the forward hand grip for easy access. One 201 on my Ruger SR22 and Handgrip laser on my Beretta 40 S&W 96 commander. All are doing what they were bought. Great product. (Posted on 5/5/15)

  3. Rail Master Review by BB

I bought a Rail Master for a CCW pistol. I found the paddles to be too low. Sold the laser. (Posted on 3/8/15)

  4. love it, this is my 2nd crm201 Review by Mark B

I installed it to a tight "thumb tight" pressure, then put nail polish on the screw head to keep it in place. I have it sighted in at 25 yards. Red does not show up as well as green ( I am told ) and it is hard to see outside in daylight, but very visible when dark approaches. I bought this one used and it did not come complete with all of the adjustment wedges. I called customer service and they sent me a complete set of wedges and wrench tools at no charge within a few days. When I get the money I will buy the green laser with light. I love it! (Posted on 2/6/15)

  5. Great laser Review by SAPman

I love this compact, yet powerful laser. It activates with a slight touch from either side (ambedextrous) and it attaches to my pistol firmly and stays in place. (Posted on 2/2/15)

Finish with the positive. Very light weight. easy activation left or right side. seemed to hold poa until clamp failed. was easy to sight in. came with inserts to fit multiple weapons which is good if you want to be able switch between different guns for different uses.

I just have to wait and see if I got a rare quality issue or if this happens again. It is Saturday so will not know what CRIMSON TRACE will say until Monday. Sounds like they are squared away though from reading other posts. (Posted on 1/24/15)

  8. Right on target! Review by Uncle Dave

Mounted onto a Ruger SR 9. Reset yardage easily to 35 yards (longest room in house) and keeping laser above gun sights.. First time out, 9 out of 10 in bull. Shot at 65 yards and stayed within kill shot. Eliminated the need to have to wear bi focal glasses in order to fix on gun sights and still see target.. Extended trigger finger rests right on turn on. Has made shooting fun.
Fits into Bulldog Extreme 8 soft holster completely.

  9. comfortable with not having to look to activate. Review by Uncle Dave

Re-set to 35 yards with laser still visible over gun sights. Longest room in house. 9 out of 10 into bull. 65 yards still into target profile.
Never seemed to move but need to tighten during clean up.
Fits into Bulldog Extreme size 8 soft holster completely. (Posted on 11/17/14)

  10. excellent customer service, great laser Review by mark B

this is my 2nd crm201. I bought it used and did not have the proper inserts. CT customer service sent me all inserts, new battery and the 2 adjustment tools needed for any handgun at no charge. I have mine sighted in at 25 yards and works great, Just not during daylight. I found a fobus glt17 holster for my FS M&P 40 that fits this laser very well. I plan on getting another light/laser combo if I ever get an AR (Posted on 11/4/14)

  11. 5 stars! Review by steven

Last week I received my new LG-489 for my M&P Shield. Loved it so much I got this Rail Master CMR-201 for my SD9. I put 200 rounds through the SD9. At first I was trying one clip laser, one clip iron sights. that didn't last very long! The laser is SO much more accurate. I've had my SD9 since July and have put over 1000 rounds through it. Never have my groupings been so tight or so many shots of bullet on bullet! Next week I review my new LG-447 for my 709 slim. I can't wait! Thanks Crimson Trace!!!! 5 Stars!!!!! (Posted on 11/1/14)

  12. Great Review by Jake

I bought one today and the laser shows up very well. I put it on my ruger sr22 and it fits great. (Posted on 9/21/14)

  13. Factory Set For 50'??? Review by Pete

How can you factory set the Rail Master for any distance?
You do not even have instructions for installation!
I would be ashamed to admit this product is American Made!
    Poor Everything! (Posted on 7/26/14)

  14. Works well with my Glock Review by Hank

Just got this and it fits great and works well with my Glock 19. (Posted on 1/1/14)

  15. Works as advertised on rail-equipped shotguns Review by Keith

The final addition to a Rem 870 12 ga. tactical conversion. Mounted the laser beneath a Magpul MOE fore end using Magpul's optional 3" Picatinny rail installed there. Installed the Crimson Trace rail compatible light on the left side of the fore end - I'm a righty. (Surprising additional benefit to that light install, it illuminates the forward sight brilliantly on the 18" barrel) Bottom line: light and laser added with no appreciable additional weight, both easily activated by my left hand from its position cradling the shotgun fore end with no need for wires or switch pads. Neither light or laser get in the way of my single point sling rig. Zeroed with iron sights, confirmed at range. Fired 15 rounds of G.I. 00 buck, laser and light stayed tight and performed flawlessly. (Posted on 5/27/13)

  16. the best little laser Ive used Review by William

I had purchased two of these now and could not be more pleased with there versatility and usefulness. One I mounted on a SR22 for my son and it has made his shooting experiance more enjoyable and even exciting. I love to shoot and he was getting bored with it untell he got his new laser . I made him sight it in which he did easily and he now has a renewed interest. I thank Crimson Trace for making such a fine product at an affordable price. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who is looking for an affordable and versitle laser. (Posted on 5/16/13)

  17. Great Product! Review by Vaan

I have a brand new Desert Eagle .40 i got a lil bit ago and i bought this laser the other day to go with it!
Not only does it flat out look amazing on my DE but the universal fit was perfect!!!
I have it zeroed in at 25 yards right now and put 100 rounds through it so far and the laser has no budged an inch!!
The laser is bright and strong, no flickering no offs during shoots, did exactly what its supposed to do!!
Very easy to install, and very easy to zero in where you want it i give it a A++ very recommended!! (Posted on 4/28/13)

  18. Fails reliability test Review by ED

As many others have posted, the beam of my CMR-201 Rail Master turns off, or dims, after the recoil of a few shots. The unit is mounted on my 9mm Glock 19, not a high recoil .45. If I keep shooting, it may come on again. Seems like a contact issue somewhere. It was easy to install and adjust, and holds POA. But if I can't rely on the beam working when needed, I have to give it a failing review. CTC Customer Service says they had problems with batteries, but, I bought new batteries (Energizer) and the problem remains. They said send it back for free service/replacement, but they provide no shipping label. (Posted on 3/21/13)

  19. Easy to install works great. Review by Jess

I installed the CMR 201 on my new Walther PPQ, very easy install. It took only a few minutes to sight it in. After several hundred rounds it is still solid. I am very pleased with this product and look forward to my next purchase of a Crimson Trace laser. (Posted on 3/14/13)

  22. Excellent product, but check the box before leaving the store!!!! Review by Gordon21

I bought one in a retail gun store today after doing extensive internet research and looking at some others at a local gun show. I handled the bare unit before purchase to verify the quality construction and ease of use of the on-off buttons. I then drove 50 miles home. The sight is supposed to come with four different "shims" to adjust it to virtually any railed gun. Guess what, the box only had three of the four shims and the one I needed was missing. There is a little ziplok bag with all the misc parts. My sight is unusable due to a missing $0.04 plastic molded part. I hope the CT customer service is as good as I read about. Their reputation was the main reason why I spent $30 more for this sight than some others the store had. This was a present for my wifes new pistol I bought her a week ago. We will both be anxiously waiting for the missing part. Check the box before leaving the store!!!!! (Posted on 1/17/13)

  23. Accurate,Easy to install, Looks good!, Easy to Activate Review by Travis

Customer Service is outstanding.....I had a shipping issue and they resolved very quickly for me. CMR-201 was very easy to install and looks good on my SR9. Zeroed mine with about 5 rounds. Fired over 200 rounds and was accurate every time. Laser was bright and had no problems at all. The SR9 calls for the use of the number 3 insert which really makes the placement of the activation switch perfect. (Posted on 12/29/12)

  24. The Wait is Over! Review by Justin

Finally a CT laser that will fit the standard frame Glock 20/21. When I bought my G20 I couldn't wait to put a CT laser on it but was disappointed to find out they did not offer a laser for that model. But now my prayers have been answered with this great quality universal rail mounted laser.

After a very simple installation and easy sight in, it hasn't shown even a hint of moving or shifting point of impact. If it can standup to the recoil of heavy 10mm, it can standup to most anything.

I gave it a 4 out of 5 only because it does require a special holster to fit it but besides that it is a great buy, especially for the money. (Posted on 11/20/12)

  25. Unable to handle recoil of XDS .45 ACP Review by Dr. Chris

I am also on my second unit, and although this one stays on longer than the previous one (which cut out immediately after the first shot of every magazine), this one either cuts out completely or goes dim after 3 or 4 rounds. Most of the testing has been with PMC 230 grain ball or 185 grain JHP (the latter was actually worse). I have a dozen other CT units on other pistols, many of them .45's, and have never seen this before. I think it is a faulty design in the battery connectors, since I usually have to slide the battery cover back and forth to get it to activate again. It would be great - if it worked reliably - but it does not. (Posted on 11/11/12)

  27. This product is very dissapointing Review by Kid

I have a Ruger SR22 that came from cabelas with this sight on it. It shoots about 15 inches low and I cannot get to fit the gun I thought I had the wrong insert so I called Crimson the customer service was great they sent me the insert I thought I needed no questions asked but turns out that one is even worse If I don`t figure it out soon I am going to throw it in the garbage and go to a different company. (Posted on 11/5/12)

  28. Would recommend with a bit of reservation Review by Trace

My first test at the range was successful but the laser went dim and completely out several times. I removed and reinstalled the battery and it never went out again but it did dim. Once I zeroed it, it was very accurate. My last 6 shots from 30 feet were all inside the center circle and 4 were on the bullseye. (Posted on 11/3/12)

  29. dislike Review by redrocket2oo5

I have a beretta px4. The railmaster laser shakes loose and falls off the gun after one magazine. I called into crimson trace and they sent me another one with no questions asked. And again the same problem happened again. According to Crimson Trace every laser is tested before it leaves the facility. Am i supposed to use loctite to make this product work? (Posted on 9/15/12)

  30. Looks Great and performs even better!! Review by MK34_techrep

Bought a Ruger SR22-CT, which came with the RailMaster installed and right out of the box it was spot on. The wife and I simply like everything about it. THANKS CRIMSON TRACE for such a great product... (Posted on 9/13/12)

  31. good product excellent customer service Review by pea shooter

had a problem with the first railmaster sent it in and was sent another my only complaint is that I had to pay to ship it back. Must say that their customer service is excellent (Posted on 8/18/12)

  32. Not ready for prime time. Review by John Land

I'm on my second unit, attached to a SIG P226 9mm, but it's worse than the first -- the rail laser can't take the recoil (which is not all that powerful). My first unit would turn itself on a couple of times per 10 round magazine, the replacement turns itself on about every other shot (and I've carefully tested to make sure I'm not touching the paddle switches).

So the unit is going to be relegated to a .22LR pistol, and I'll look for another product for the P226 (I have E2 grips on it, which I really like, so regular CT laser grips won't work on this pistol). BTW, I'm a big fan of the CT laser grips, I have them on 7 handguns; I also have 2 guns with CT laser guards. So it's quite disappointing that the CT rail laser works so poorly. (Posted on 8/13/12)

  33. Nice addition to my 21SF Glock but recoil a little much Review by Anthony

I received my Laser looked at it and said what am i going to to with this, got the instructions out and started installing the Laser afterward, i called support and was told the Lasers come sited in from the factory.
After talking to the tech i finally got it right and left for thr range, doing the first few rounds it was fine, right on the money, then i increased the distance the people of Crimson Trace said from the the factory it was sited at 50 yards, i was inside range and was shooting only from 15 to 35 feet and it shot to the left of the Bulls eye and the windage was a bit high. So after i got home i again called Crimson Trace and support i actually got it right now but in my opinion it should be used on a smaller weapon because of the recoil of the .45 acp glock and having to re-ajust it each time i shot, but when it on it was on, on this particular weapon i will change it for the grip laser and do the same for my Glock 23 .40sw as i think the recoil of both are a little much also battery life is a concern..... (Posted on 8/4/12)

  34. Beam stoped working after 3 shots Review by Mattieb

It seemed great I was excited to get it out and soot then 3 shoots with my m&p 40c the light went off I shot a few more time came back but very dim few more off few more on I'm sure u get the picture maybe I got a bad one they r sending me a new one but don't have very high expectations (Posted on 6/22/12)

  35. Great rail laser Review by Thomas

The dot can be seen at a farther distance than Lasermax. The different attachments ensure versatility for different firearms. And it's low-profile. I liked my first one so much, I purchased another. (Posted on 6/22/12)

  36. Nice Bright Laser sight works great Review by Glockshooter56

I think this laser is great for the money, the factory says it's sighted at 50 yards coming to you straight out of the box, a snap to install and for me 10 to 30 feet is where i consenstrate at the indoor range.
I try to practice with and without the laser with different weapons, actually as i am going to buy and aftermarket trigger with about a 3.5lb trigger pull but as of yet have not updated my guns, so i am practicing with the laser on my double tap shooting and it is so much easier to aquire my target and faster too, as opposed to just trying to align my frony and rear sights my Glock 21sf as of now wears the laser sight and the Glock 23 is waiting for it's upgrade both the .40sw and the .45acp are hard hitting rds so anything to help works these do.... (Posted on 6/16/12)

  37. Absolutely Awesome Review by Dave

Light weight, easy access to activation switch. Like the ability to turn the laser off for iron sight training. Great to see the round hit the red dot. Well done CT (Posted on 6/2/12)

  39. Amazing Product!!! Review by Chris

Wow...what an unbelievably well designed laser and incredibly accurate. I mounted this particular laser on a Beretta M9 and I couldn't be happier with it's performance. If you're considering purchasing this laser, DO IT!! You won't be disappointed, Guaranteed!! (Posted on 4/19/12)

  40. Excellent Product Review by EGH

Was looking for a laser for my Ruger SR9. This one fits perfectly. It was easy to install. Sighted in in less than 5 minutes. I have already recommended this to several friends. I will be buying another for my other semi-auto. (Posted on 4/18/12)

  43. Great laser Review by obiwankabaldi

This laser is really great and I bought it for my S&W M&P 45c. I do prefer the grip laser sights due to holstering issues and grip activation. Hopefully when CT comes out with one for my 45 compact I can use this on my AR. The fit is perfect and the laser is bright and holds zero perfectly. (Posted on 4/1/12)

  44. love it Review by dutch

Already have the grip laser on my ruger lcp 380 and love it was looking for something good for mr SR9 which is hard to find stuff for and my dealer showed me the railmaster, the petite size is awesome the ease of installation is unbelivable and of course the CT quality is unmatched then lo and behold it matches up to my G30. CT really hit the nail on the head with this one!! Love it!! (Posted on 3/31/12)

  45. It's what a laser sight should be Review by KMAN

Just got mine and so far I love it, mounted easily on my Sig P226 has a nice compact sleek look and the price can't be beat for a quality laser.
I purchased it for the following reasons very compact compared to other lasers that I've seen, the brand from what I've seen and heard Crimson Trace has quality procucts, and the price was unbeatable under $120.
I have not had the opportunity the fire my weapon since installing it, will be going to the range in the next day or two but I am sure I will like it even more after i do.
That was a concern about it getting turned on when holstering but thats a small problem just have to find a holster that will fit it the laser itself seems very well built and if it works as well as other CT poducts I've seen I will be more than happy with it. (Posted on 3/15/12)

  46. Walther P99 AS Review by Ron Adamson

I had been searching for a laser that would fit the Walther P99 for quite some time. There had been no laser manufacturers that made one compatible with that firearm until Crimson Trace introduced the CMR-201. My gun is the .40 S&W and the laser is awesome. Not only does it function exceptionally, the fit is perfect and the finish, second to none. I absolutely love the laser, and how easy it is to activate. The value is a huge bonus as well. For less than $150.00 for a top quality laser is one of the main reasons I decided to try this piece and I am very happy that I did. (Posted on 3/5/12)

  47. This is a great idea, Review by Grumpa

This is a great Idea, I have a Grip mount now on a XD9,
But put a off brand on my Mossberg Road blocker, Having a grip mount is great for that on & off switch, I have to see a CMR-201 to see how fast the Laser comes on and goes off. plus we are going to find out that Red lasers are going to be replace in a year or two by green lasers, will CTC start offering a green laser for the Master series ,???
All in all the lasers are the best part in hand gun's and rifles to come down the pike, I feel they will save lives and keep a lot of people behind the gun free from a lot of court time and living with that ever feeling that they pulled the trigger and now some worth less peace of trash is going to cost you a lot of sleepless night.. (Posted on 3/3/12)

  48. Great!!!! Review by Shootforshot

  49. Works great, best price out there. Review by John

Got mine for a Springfield XD 45. Easy to sight in. I hammered it. No issues. Easy on activation. It turns off automatically. I have not tried it on my AR. Will do that next. I’ll be buying several more of these. (Posted on 2/20/12)

  50. looks & fits great Review by gullyman

Just got this puppy and put it on my new Beretta Px4 fullsize 9mm. It installs easily, looks great, the on/off switch is right there to bump on as my finger comes around to greet the trigger.

It is quite bright and I easily adjusted the dot to the iron sights so now I just have to go to the range to do the final adjustments.

This is my first laser and i chose CT because of recommendations from friends that have several different CT lasers (both grips and guards) and say they can't be beat.

The CMR-201 also fit nicely on my Stag AR-15 on it's small front under rail. So at it's small size, small price, and CT quality, I'll probably put one on it too. (Posted on 2/18/12)

  51. Another Quality Laser From Crimson Trace Review by mmalar97

I am an NRA Instructor. I received my CMR-201 via UPS last week. Unfortunately, the unit was defective( the activation switch for right handers was defective). I immediately called Crimson Trace, because I needed this unit for an upcoming function. As always, Crimson Trace Customer Service stood firmly behind their product. I received a replacemant CMR-201 via a 3 day Special UPS Delivery . The new unit arrrived yesterday. I installed and utilized the new unit on my Taurus Millenium Pro .45, my Ruger SR9C, and my Springfield XD Sub Compact .40. The laser was perfectly sighted right out of the box! I truly feel that Crimson Trace has hit a "Home Run" with this unit. Prior to this purchase, I owned six (6) Crimson Trace Lasers for various firearms. Each one of these lasers has proven to be a quality product. I would not consider concealed carry without a Crimson Trace Laser attached to my firearm. I am positive that Crimson Trace will sell a "Ton" of these new CMR-201 Universal Lasers. It is a quality product, which is produced in the United States of America! (Posted on 2/18/12)

  52. switch turns on to easy Review by cujo

i have holsters that will fit, the problem is the activation of the switch is so easy that it comes on when the gun is holstered and stays on. there no click as with other lasers. the unit will turn off, than right back on again. I do have a holster that will work, but only one of 4. i do like the unit, it fits the beretta 96a1 nice and is easier to adjust the beam than say te "stingray". (Posted on 2/17/12)

  53. H&K USP .40 Review by Captain Jim

The CMR-201 apparently won't fit the H&K USP Compact .40... but I need one. I certainly hope CT will make a model that works on it. There are many of us out here who have this model pistol. Thanks for all the other great CT products!

*Note from CTC Admin - We are currently monitoring fit solutions including specific USP adapters that will convert the proprietary USP rail into a Picatinny rail, making it compatible with the CMR-201. Thank you for your patience. (Posted on 2/17/12)

  54. Buy this laser and the holsters will come Review by protempore

My brief experience with this CT sight on a duty Glock 21SF is excellent...dittos all around on the other rave review comments about the sight itself. I have enough faith in the marketplace to think that the planners at Bianchi, Fobus, Blackhawk! etc. read these ads and reviews, and are doing the numbers on what the market will be for a CT-guard-compatible holster. If you like the CT trigger guard sights, e-mail all the sight manufacturers and big suppliers like Midway and Cabela's. They do pay attention. (Posted on 2/14/12)

  55. Just got mine Review by Colin F

I Just picked mine up this Friday. Was easy to install. I put it on my FNH FNX-9. I like the fit & look. Took it out & shot today at 15 yds. Needed to bring it down qite a ways, really high, about 2 ft. But that is to be expected, since there are 4 different adapters for different guns. Lowered it & the results are great. I was as impressed as I was when I put a set of grips on my Kimber. Great accessory to have. It is also great to buy something that is made in Oregon & the USA. Since I am a naitve Oregonian I take pride that something like this is made here & it helps the economy too. Great product. (Posted on 2/5/12)

Just installed it on my FNH FNX-9. Good fit, easy to activate. Will find out how much more I will like it tomorrow. If it works as good as the grips on my Kimber. I have no compalints. It is also great that it is a made in USA in Wilsonville Oregon. Being a native Oregonian that is always a plus. The only holster it does not fit is my inside the pant. I guess I can live with out it. I have others. (Posted on 2/4/12)

  57. Should rate the product ...not the lack of a holster Review by

I use CT products on firearms that are used when I teach for the NRA. I have 7 of them, on various firearms, that are used during classes. I honestly feel that they are a great product, produced by people that care and it is made in the USA. Why not rate the product for what it is designed to do... NOT for the lack of any accessory, including holsters. Give the product an honest evaluation and rate it accordingly. To knock the product because of a lack of holster(s) is dishonest and does not help potential customers make a "laser" decision. I am ordering 2 of these today because I strongly feel that the product makes a positive difference. (Posted on 2/2/12)

  58. holsters Review by Colonel

wish Crimson Trace would also go into the holster business to speed up getting a duty holster to accomodate this item which is a very welcome addition to laser choices (Posted on 2/2/12)

  59. Waiting to get one which I will soon do. Review by Joe

I have the Lasermax which I will put on my AR. I echo the above comment about no holster. Would love to have the crossbreed in a crossdraw configuration, but will have to wait for the holster industry to catch up. Love the gun as I have small hands, great for concealed carry and CT lasers sure help my old eyes (71 yrs.old) so come on crossbreed, Blackhawk or someone else with a reasonable priced holster. 60. WOW Review by Dave

Great small laser. I have attached to a Ruger P95 and was very easy to align. Have a custom holster being made at Black Hill Leather.
Wife loves for a Home Defense sight system. (Posted on 1/26/12)

  61. Big perfomance. Small package. Review by 1911fan

This laser is super small, activates easily, and is very bright. I plan to use mine on a pistol for home defense. There are many custom leather holster makers that should be able to make a holster to fit should I want to carry it. (Posted on 1/23/12)

  62. Nice Review by Casteal

Just received it this afternoon, fit as per instructions on my gen 4 Glock 17. Very convenient switch, much better than my other rail lasers. Will try it at the range tomorrow. (Posted on 1/13/12)

  63. Great compact laser for multiple railed firearms Review by nimdabew

I had a chance to play with a Rail Master over the weekend, and I will say this laser is above and beyond the comparable Lasermax Uni-Max in both activation switch, and size.

Activation: The Uni-Max uses a toggle switch that physically moves for laser activation, whereas the CT Rail Master has a non-movable push button-like activation that stays in the same location for on/off activation.

Size: The CT Rail Master is a little larger than the Uni-Max in height, but beats the Uni-Max in length. This important distinction keeps the apparent bulk of the CT Rail Master down and helps keep the sleek and snag free properties of pistols while wearing the laser.

Holsters: I removed one star for the Rail Master for lack of holster selection and ability to holster this firearm with a custom kydex holster. Most kydex holsters grip the trigger guard, and this laser would interfere with this operation. If looking for concealed carry with a laser, the CT Laser Guard is a better choice in my opinion due to the small activation nub that doesn't affect the firing grip, and a custom holster can be made for guns that do not have holsters made for them already.
